ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END……..

November 7, 2022 63 Comments

TWO MONTHS AGO TOMORROW WE LOST THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND.

THIS POST IS MORE OF A MEMORY FOR ME AS I AM CERTAIN THOSE OF YOU WHO GREW UP WITH THIS QUEEN AND THOSE WHO ARE ROYAL FANATIC’S HAVE HAD YOUR TIME WITH HER MAJESTY.IT’S ALL BEEN A BIT MUCH FOR ME……..THIS HAS DEVASTATED ME AS MUCH AS THE PASSING OF PRINCESS DIANA.

I DID NOT RISE AT 3 AM TO WATCH THE WESTMINSTER ABBEY SERVICE BUT INSTEAD ROSE AT MY NEW NORMAL TIME OF 5:30 AM IN TIME TO WATCH THE DRIVE FROM LONDON TO WINDSOR.THE PEOPLE THE CROWDS THE PAGEANTRY AND THOSE FLOWERS THE GARDENERS LAID OUT ONE BY ONE IN COMPLETE SYMMETRY WAS STUNNING BEYOND BELIEF.

AS I WRITE THIS 4 DAYS LATER AFTER HER DEATH;

I DONOT THINK I NEED TO SEE THAT SERVICE AS THIS WAS ALL I NEEDED.

THIS TOOK SO MUCH OUT OF ME; I NEED A REST BEFORE WATCHING THE BIGGER EVENT.

BEFORE WE CONTINUE I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE BLURRY PHOTOS!I WAS SHOOTING WITH MY PHONE INTO MY IPAD.AS I WATCHED THE PARADE MARCH ON BY…………..

THE FLOWERS LINING THE ENTRANCE TO Windsor Castle.

THE HEASRT WHO THE QUEEN HERSELF HAD A HAND IN DESIGNING I READ!

I WONDER IF WE KNOW HOW MUCH THOSE UNIFORMS WEIGH WITH HAT INCLUDED!

THESE FLOWERS WERE TOSSED UPON THE MOVING CAR AS MOURNERS LINED THE ROADWAYS.

THE COUNTRY ROAD TO WINDSOR………..

THE NEWEST CORGI’S GIVEN TO HER BY HER SON ANDREW.

 King Charles THE THIRD.

FUTURE LITTLE KING OF NINE YEARS OLD!

 BORN ON MY BIRTHDAY!

THOSE CANADIAN BEARSKIN HATS ARE HINGED AT THE CHIN INSTEAD OF UNDER THE CHIN IN CASE IN BATTLE THEY WOULD FALL BACKWARDS; WHICH WOULD SNAP THEIR NECKS.

 DUE TO THE WEIGHT!

INTERESTING TRIVIA FACT!

THOSE DIRT MARKS MUST BE ON MY PHONE!

HORRORS!

SEE THE REFLECTION OF THE SOLIDER IN THE WINDOW!

LOVE THAT YELLOW ROSE HANGING ON FOR THE RIDE!

AGAIN MY PHONE OR IPAD HAS DIRT CIRCLES THOSE ARENOT ON HER SKIN!!

THE QUEEN PICKED THE COLOR OF THE HEARST!

CLARET I READ!

Windsor Castle 1066

Windsor Castle is a royal residence at Windsor in the English county of Berkshire. It is strongly associated with the English and succeeding British royal family, and embodies almost a millennium of architectural history.

The original castle was built in the 11th century after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. Since the time of Henry I (who reigned 1100–1135), it has been used by the reigning monarch and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe. The castle’s lavish early 19th-century state apartments were described by early 20th century art historian Hugh Roberts as “a superb and unrivalled sequence of rooms widely regarded as the finest and most complete expression of later Georgian taste”.[4] Inside the castle walls is the 15th-century St George’s Chapel, considered by the historian John Martin Robinson to be “one of the supreme achievements of English Perpendicular Gothic” design.[5]

I WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIFIED TO BE THE DRIVER HERE……….

ANYONE KNOW WHO IS SITTING BESIDE HIM?

 NONE OF THIS WAS REHEARSED!

HAVE NO IDEA HOW I MADE THIS PHOTO BUT I LOVE IT!

I READ THAT HER COFFIN WAS LINED IN LEAD.

THIS HELPS TO KEEP MOISTURE OUT AND THE BODY PRESERVED.

  ” IN LOVING AND DEVOTED MEMORY,CHARLES R”

THE FLOWERS THAT MADE UP THE WREATH WERE FROM Buckingham Palace AND HIGHGROVE AND Clarence House.

THE MYRTLE WAS GROWN FROM A SPRIG FROM THE QUEENS WEDDING BOUQUET IN 1947.

HOW PROUD THE PARENTS OF THESE YOUNG MEN MUST BE!

THIS CROWN WAS REDUCED IN SIZE!

WHEN HER FATHER WORE IT IT WAS MUCH TALLER!

 WREATH.

NOTE FROM HER SON KING CHARLES III.

PURPLE PILLOW WITH  ROYAL CROWN AND ORB AND SCEPTRE.

THE SPARKLE EVEN IF IT’S NOT IN FOCUS!

 ANY COMMENTS ON HER…………..?

I have gone from adoring her to PLEASE just go away!

Raise your children in seclusion and have that HAPPY LIFE you so desperately need.

YOU CAN NOT TELL ME SHE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE WAS GETTING HERSELF INTO WHEN SHE MARRIED INTO THE ROYAL FAMILY!

I WOULD BE CERTAIN BUT OF COURSE I DO NOT KNOW THAT HARRY WOULD HAVE BRIEFED HER AS WELL AS OTHERS.

PLUS SHE WAS AN ACTRESS WHICH IS THAT ROYAL LIFE ON A SMALLER SCALE.

NO?

There is DIANA’s BROTHER with the white hair.

THE REMOVAL OF THE CROWN………..

THIS WAS VERY MOVING TO ME AND I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS DONE IN PUBLIC LIKE THIS.

MY FAVORITE PHOTO BELOW!

MY initials were E R before marriage!

I love the color gold!

ANY CROWN with BLING makes me SMILE!

I CAN RECALL WEARING WHITE GLOVES ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS AS A CHILD GROWING UP IN THE 60’s and 70’s!

EXACTLY LIKE THESE WITH THE RIBBED BIT?

WHAT DO YOU CALL THAT IN THE SEWING WORLD?

LOVE THE COUNTRY VIBE OF THE FLORAL WREATH HERE………….

THE FUTURE IN THE FIRST PEW!

IF ONE CAN LOVE A PHOTO OF THIS DEEP SADNESS THIS SAYS IT ALL TO ME!

AND OFF HE GOES THE NEXT KING OF ENGLAND………..

LET’S HOPE HE GETS TIME TO GRIEVE AND REST BEFORE THE DUTIES BEGIN!

THE MAN HAS BEEN NON-STOP FOR THE LAST 10 DAYS…….

I DIDNOT PUT THE VIDEO IN OF THE BAGPIPES PLAYING.

SO IF YOU MISSED THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GOOGLE IT AS IT WAS VERY MOVING!

SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE AND WE SHARED THE SAME NAME!

I CAN RECALL VISITING THE CHANGING OF THE GUARDS AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE AT AGE SEVEN

WITH MY MOTHER ON OUR WAY TO HOLLAND TO SEE MY AUNT BETTY AND COUSINS.

I ASKED MY MOTHER WHY SHE DIDNOT COME TO THE WINDOW AND WAVE AT ME!

MY AUNT BETTY TALKED US INTO THE CARRIAGE HOUSE AND I GOT TO SIT IN THE ANTIQUE ALL GOLD GILTWOOD CARRIAGE FROM 1760!

DO YOU THINK I CAN FIND THAT PHOTO NOW?!!

NOPE!

I watched most of it. As you know I am a big fan of the royal family and I did my own tribute to the Queen. It seems strange when there are events and she is not there but we have to get used to it.
I agree with you about Meghan. I think she should just go away and out of the spotlight if she wants a quiet life. There’s no doubt in my mind that she was briefed about what she was getting into but I think she thought that all rules would be broken just to accommodate her. She is silly and selfish but I just wish her all the happiness she desires.

Thank you for sharing these , you did so well capturing them all.
As an Australian , with the late Queen and now King Charles as our head of state, I am a little conflicted. I greatly admired the late Queen for her sense of duty and tradition but am not really a monarchist. That said the pagaentry was something to witness and probably will never be seen again on this scale as King Charles has stated there will be a scaled down Royal Family.

Thank you for providing this lovely coverage of such a solemn and stunning event. The Queen was what all women should aspire to be. She spent her life in humble servitude to her people and was a woman of class, perseverence, dignity, and a steadfastness we have rarely, if ever, seen. May God bless her always. I admire so much “The Greatest Generation,” and she was also a WWII veteran. We have lost most of those brave and sacrificing individuals, and should take a moment to honor them all.

As for Megan, she is a wretched, disingenuous, thoughtless, selfish whiner, and needs to find a real hobby or some meaningful volunteer work. Perhaps then she will realize the harm she has done and attempt to mitigate it.

It was a moving and emotional ceremony or I should say funeral. We rarely see a real funeral anymore. It’s all ‘celebration of life’. You’ve captured all the big moments, Elizabeth. I cried as I watched the bagpiper playing while walking away. It was incredibly moving.
I really dislike MM. She even took this event and made presumptuous statements about the Late Queen in her Variety interview. She is manipulative, to say the least. On the other hand, it seems King Charles has stepped up with class along with his wife, Camilla.

We were in the Mayflower pub in London when the Queen’s passing was announced.
We tried to go to Green Parc the next day to see the flowers but so many people we could not get close. The day we left London people were lined up to pay their respects right up to my daughter’s place and she lives four miles away. The first time I saw tv it was at school for the queen’s coronation and since then I have been forever fascinated with the Royals. I once sent you a photo of my daughter with the prince. She was wearing a purple dress and he quite liked it. I must admit my heart does go out to Harry. People have forgiven Camilla for much worse so perhaps someday he too will be.
Thank you for this. Love it,

I watched all day and was sad and often brought to tears. Americans have never had an equivalent leader who’s been a part of our lives since we were children. For the English, it must be like losing a parent, a ruler and the person you trusted more than anyone. Meghan and Harry… Don’t get me started. I’ve never been a fan of hers. I imagine she thought her hat was perfect for the occasion but next to Kate’s, it was overly dramatic. Kate is always perfectly on point. xoxox, B

This was so, so lovely to read today, November 8th, as our country charts its course for the next few years. It soothed the brow to be reminded of someone who possessed the character and wisdom worthy of wearing a crown. And it does seem like her passing signals the end of an era. Gentility, grace, dignity, compassion, quiet strength, humility–it is rare to find these qualities in anyone, and practically non-existent in those who seek political power. Loved reliving this with your photos and commentary…it was a gift on this day.

As far as the two that left, well I can’t say what I think of them on your nice ladies’ blog. A few words that are not quite as obscene come to mind – arrogant, narcissistic, selfish, hypocritical and for her – devious.

It seems hard to believe it was just two months ago. I too was deeply affected by her death even though she had a long and amazing life. Her grace and dignity and commitment to service would be hard to find in this day and age. I think part of why her death made me so emotional was that my beloved Mom was born the same year – 1926 – and she passed so young at 57 that It made the loss of all those years I could have had with her seem even more sad. I found it hard to stop watching the news coverage but was so glad I did – your pictures captured the moments so beautifully and I love reading the details like the claret color of the hearse and the myrtle grown from her wedding bouquet – such exquisite touches! Thank you for sharing Elizabeth – hugs to you.

BBC covered it and were criticized for doing so! Plans for the funeral are made and updated all the time. You can’t leave such an important event to improv!

I too was beyond impressed with Meghan but now wish she would keep her complaints to herself. My heart goes out to Harry. Royal life isn’t for everyone, but I hope he one day doesn’t regret his decision to leave it behind. I saw some beautiful photos this week of the King playing with Prince Louis and thought about the precious moments his children are missing with their grandfather, cousins and the rest of their family.

Queen Elizabeth was the only monarch I grew up knowing.
There will be many changes in the Royal household now that the queen has passed away…King Charles has different priorities and it will be interesting to see how he rules the realm and “manages” the Royal family.
I just hope that Harry and Meaghan can let go of some of their baggage and move forward graciously.

I believe when we see the regal display of an occasion such as this, we are drawn to the history and heraldry of what we all, in one or another, aspire to be. Can you imagine the dedication, personal fortitude, and the courage necessary to sit upon the throne for almost an entire lifetime, and to be globally respected and revered the way the Queen was/is? I have always been in awe of the personal compromises that are demanded in order to rise and meet the royal protocols. A selfless life, indeed.

Your DIRTY SCREEN, made it BETTER.

You SHOT, you CURATED. You CAPTIONED, or NOT.

Enjoyed on laptop touch screen, ENLARGED. Slowly SCROLLING, unable to see each pic in entirety until fully SCROLLED.

COLORS, ANTICIPACTION of full CONTENT of each pic heightened.

Adore how you know when to NOT CAPTION.

Then knowing which MUNDANE to caption.

Her precious, loved DOGS superimposed by magic on her HEARSE. Best.

Did not watch in real time, or at all. Do not own a TV, a life choice.

I cannot stand Megan who is a publicity hound, and thought she could change things that are centuries old. Talk about a Narcissistic bitch, and Harry is a wimp. Time he grew up. For two people claiming that the publicity was too much living in England they sure do seek it now. And Oprah should have done homework before being swallowed up on the “show” by Megan. Hollywood cinema at it’s worst.
Charles will make a good king. He was charming, interested in what my mother said, when he visited the British hospital in India. She as one of two patients, so they spent about 30 minutes together. She never forgot how he looked at her, asked questions, and yes…held her hand. Highlight of her life.

Contessa! Has it really been two months? It’s still hard to believe she’s gone. What a beautiful remembrance of that somber yet spectacular day. It is only on the happiest and saddest of occasions we witness royalty at their most resplendent and there is nothing else like it in this world. The only fly in the ointment for me were Andrew and the circus that Harry seems to encourage. If Andrew had any interest in the preservation of the monarchy, or respect for his other, he would make him self unseen and unheard. I know he is the Queen’s son, but thrusting himself out there at every opportunity is offensive and upsetting to those of us who revere the institution. He can’t seem to understand he is unpopular, has been unpopular – for so many reasons including the horrific Epstein debacle – and is not going to return to the fold. And it’s all his own doing. As for Harry and Megan, I feel similarly to you. I adored her and was thrilled by their engagement. Never had I seen a new family member welcomed like she was. All past protocol thrown by the wayside. The idea she did to know what she was getting into is preposterous. And Harry’s trashing of his family since then is unnecessary and unforgivable. I could go on but I won’t. It’s a shame the Queen’s final years were disrupted by these two selfish and self-centered family members. And to be clear, I’m not equating their circumstances, they are quite different. But likely equally distressing to the Queen, King Charles III, the Prince of Wales and the entire family. But back to the amazing sendoff for a remarkable woman and monarch. We will not see her like in our lifetimes if ever. So much respect for Her Majesty. God Save the King. Thank you for these beautiful photos and interesting commentary. You know I can’t get enough. xo

We lived in Windsor for a number of years and would regularly go for Sunday walks down the Long Walk. It was not unusual to see the Queen driving her green Jag to church with Phillip riding shotgun and Queen Mum in the back giving her royal wave. I was a big fan of the Queen, people talk about how easy life is when you are rich, but I would not take her place as her life was never her own, she gave all to her people. I think Charles will be a good king given the chance. As for the Spare and his other half, don’t even get me started on that. For the love of god can they not take do an outing where they are not pawing at each other. Even if he attempts to pull away out of respect for the moment she goes in with the claw to cling to him. I’m hoping their kids do not get titles and Harry gets stripped of his. Their constant need to run the RF down is tiring. They know they can say whatever BS they want as the RF won’t retaliate and roll in the gutter with the Harkles.

Oops, I thought I was commenting on what Vicky said. Now this is mine. I think you did a great job on the photos. Shows you how good iPhone are. I did not see those flowers laid on the grass. How stunning and heart breaking. I also did not realize the hearse was claret. How elegant. I did wake up at 3AM but fell asleep and woke up to watch the service at Winsor. I felt that was more intimate. I was quite moved watching the, remove her crown and scepter. Oh, and then when the casket was lowered….Great job Elizabeth the Kirkpatrick.

Absolutely, AMEN. Those two are a disgrace!! They should shut up, be stripped of everything, and leave the Royals alone.

    Lovely photos Elizabeth.
I watched all day, it was incredibly moving . I didn’t go to Westminster abbey before hand, but was outside Buckingham Palace( by accident!) when King Charles was proclaimed monarch. I was very close to the main gate and saw him come back. I have a photo of my mother speaking with the Queen when she visited her workplace.
She totally did what she said she would do, immense respect.
