Flown THE COOP!

February 8, 2014 33 Comments

My youngest SON has flown the coop again………..done with college and travel for now he has set down some roots very close to his old stomping grounds!

I couldn’t be more proud of him!

At the age of 24 he has bought his first house!May be his last too as it is perfect for him.

I saw it for the first time yesterday after he received the keys.

The property spoke to me……the setting, the old roses, the magnolia tree the land and of course the goats that live next door!

I couldn’t be happier for him!

Take a peek……

The first couple of photos are the driveway to the home. Then we have the front of the little two bedroom ,one bath 1940’s house. The doorways are arched which is charming to me!Last night at dinner it was announced he had hung flags over the doorways…………I thought to myself……..oh good grief!DORM STYLE in the making! But to my relief it was later communicated to me from the other SON that was not the case! They knew they were pulling my strings and went for it!Good old-fashion fun they were having with this MAMMA!Then out the back door there is a covered patio…….with a goldfish pond! The previous owner even left instructions with a can of food…………VERY NICE I thought!Further up the hill he has land!A good amount with a few GUM trees to line his property……………….but before you get to the LAND is a huge WORKSHOP that will hold four cars……….the SON is in heaven……..even his PAPA as this is a BOYS DREAM.The best part of this space to me ,the vintage GAL was an old locker cabinet with different size cubbies……………..painted RED!Which I did not take a photo of……………….DARN.

The house needs some work and perhaps I will show more as it progresses. All VERY exciting to our family and his dogs………………….I will MISS ALL THREE of them VERY much! The good news is I can go visit as they are only 20 minutes away in my car at my speed!Perhaps, now PAPA I will use the SPORT mode button to accelerate my speed……………..in my FIAT 500.

    Hello!
Congratulations, you must be so proud of your son! I will soon be facing our eldest daughter going off to college, she will be attending American University of Paris. It is far away from Louisville but it will be so fun to visit her and see Paris thru her eyes.

Well good on him. I can’t believe a 24 year old can buy a property as lovely as that in the Bay Area! He is very mature. And of course the Mama has loads of furniture and goodies to furnish with, hasn’t she? Yes need to see the GOATS, am always fascinated with them. (How long has it taken for him to grow those awesome dreads? Or is that a rude question?)

That’s so nice that he is only 20 minutes away from you. You can get to visit AND help him decorate. Ha, I wonder whether he will let you do that. I am curious about those goats you mentioned …

Seriously, this is wonderful! He’s only 24 and already purchased a piece of property. I would say you don’t need to worry about him at all. And, the really great thing is that at 24 everything is possible, he won’t even mind that the house needs a bit of work. You know? He will soar, Contessa, my friend. Onward & Upward !!

What could make a mom happier than to know her chicks are comfortable and happy wherever they may be… How fortunate to have his own place and I just hope he goes wild with his eclectic, enchanting style of his own. Okay, Mom, he might just welcome your intriguing input!
I thought the fish pond was a hot tub.
It might be someday. First thing to do is get a crystal chandelier hanging from one of the gum trees, right??

Congratulations! to all of you. A new beginning!
