INSTAGRAM

I need HELP!

I can recall sitting at HEN HOUSE making an INSTAGRAM account……….

Which I have never used.I think I have three photos up.

Tell me a few things…….

A.Do you have to post from your phone?

B.Do the photos go away after 20 days?

C.If your FOLLOWING someone how do you see their photos?

D.Can you see the list of who is FOLLOWING YOU?

E.If your FOLLOWING say 500 different people wouldn’t you constantly be looking at your phone not getting a THING DONE?

PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW IT WORKS TO ME…………AS I AM TOO FAR BEHIND IN THIS TECHY WORLD.Some days, I think enough is enough………..other DAYS like today I think GET ON THE BAND WAGON WOMAN!

Perhaps, if YOU all tell me………….then I may GET IT or at least some of it!

My name on INSTAGRAM is ANTIQUE GODDESS.

I think CONTESSA was already taken by the time I got around to creating an account.But maybe she is worth following?

You know I have had a tough time learning instagram also. It s not intuitive. So if you listen to my son who knows. If it isn’t intuitive then it’s the designer’s fault not ours!

I was so pleased to see you finally posting some photos yesterday after following you for quite a while. Everyone seems to have given you good tips on what to do and I know from experience it takes a few postings before it comes naturally. I must admit I love Instagram as it can be quite creative – you can have fun playing around with all the different effects to enhance the photo. Your 12 year old tutor will no doubt show you how to hash tag which can be witty or can just state the obvious. Have fun…..beware Instagram can be quite addictive!!

You are in there. I found you. It can indeed take over my life if I let it. I also post from my iphone and IPad. There are several editing apps that are free for pictures.
I will sometimes go days without using it, then other days I seem to have lots I want to share.
I see a lot of women say “blog post is up” or “on the blog today” but have no idea if people actually click through to see ones blog.
I have met some absolutely lovely women through IG. Much like I have through blogging. It’s a visual feast. Then there is also Pinstagram which is sort of like a combo of Pinterest and IG. It goes on and on. I think it’s basically a user beware thing.

OKAY,so you are telling me if I put up a new post on VINTAGE HEN HOUSE I can tell my FANS on INSTAGRAM to go take a peek??But I would need a photo to have attached to that correct?So, much to learn!

Everybody seems to be getting on Instagram. I am still debating. I just graduated to a phone that actually takes photos. My previous phone was 8 years old. Blasphemy, I know 🙂 I have no idea whether I will have time for Instagram or not but I am sorely tempted to try it out.

Re Picmonkey (which I love), you have to click on Edit Photo and find the photos you need to edit from your computer, then make the changes you need and save it (using a different name) back to the original folder. After that you upload it to your blog. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi there LC, I only use Instagram to make my bad i-phones photos better for blogging, so I’ve never really learned how to do it properly. I only follow three people as I don’t really click in that much, think you would only get the feed if you click into Instagram. Yes to the time sink aspect, think it probably like Pinterest where you could totally go down the rabbit hole

Thanks Jody……..I did not realize INSTAGRAM “could fix a bad photo!”I just signed up for PIC MONKEY so I can write SOLD over an item………..Now if I could figure out how to download photo to PIC MONKEY and then put it back on Vintage Hen House I would be getting my $$ worth……..If you can HELP me with that GET OVER HERE PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!Then we can both do SAFEWAY together!That might be a HOOT!

Hi Elizabeth…here you go

A. I post from my phone and iPad/smartpad…I believe these are the only options. You can view your IG page on your computer but you can not post from it.

B. Photos stay for as long as you like. As far as I know, they stay until you delete them.

C.To see someones photos, click on the far right rectangle shape ‘mail’ at the bottom of your Instagram page. Click twice if needed to get ANTIQUE GODDESS at the top of your page. You will see three numbers at the top of the page, one for ‘posts”, one for ‘followers’ and one for ‘following’. Click on ‘Following’ and a list of the people you are following will appear. Click on the person’s name and their page will appear. You can see the photos they are posting. To get back to your list, click on the arrow in the top left corner of the page.

D. Do the same for your ‘followers’. Click on ‘followers’ at the top of your main page.

E. I follow 1100 people and only look when I have free time. I go to the bottom left corner of the page and click on the image of the house ‘Home’. I scroll through to see who is posting at the time. I do not go through everyone I follow…that would take a lot of time!

From what I can see of your photos so far…you are doing just fine! The best thing to do is take time to play around, you will eventually get the hang of it.

If you want to reply to someone who has written on one of your posts. Click on the “@” sign and then type in their IG name. It should come up automatically for you.
