The San Francisco Fall Antique Show is always a treat for me especially when I have European royalty to see!We had the most beautiful day.No traffic,clear blue skies and the opportunity to meet LADY HENRIETTA SPENCER ~ CHURCHILL!To my surprise she was signing books before her lecture on HOW ROOMS EVOLVE, so I took the opportunity to buy a book or two and get her autograph!I even had the nerve to say please autograph to LA CONTESSA!We had time for idle chit-chat as we had to wait for more books to arrive and I was able to ask how her trip over had been.Found out she had been on the EAST COAST so the jet lag was not  an issue!Her talk was interesting on the homes she has decorated and especially her family home of BLENHEIM.How many of you know WINSTON CHURCHILL’s Mother was an AMERICAN?Or that chimney stacks were status symbols?Or that Baroque Style originated in ROME and that the word NUNCHIN meant a snack that later became lunch!Just a few tidbits I have learned from reading her books.A very enjoyable read.Thank You Lady Henrietta for making the trip to SAN FRANCISCO and not bending for the PRIME MINISTER when his plans changed and instead of being here in the Bay Area you were suppose to be entertaining at BLENHEIM!!!!!WE all appreciated the “NO” can’t make that date story!Do you think she was called HEN as a small child……….??I wonder.
