This coat I had made out of OLD CURTAINS and made the POCKETS EXTRA LARGE for collecting THE EGGS from the CHICKEN COOP.

I actually called her AUDREY………….as she reminded me of AUDREY HEPBURN.

These photos were taken over SEVEN years ago.

She HAILED from ITALY and is the daughter of my husbands BEST MAN at OUR WEDDING.

She has landed in MEDOC, FRANCE with MIMI THORISSON

in an old MANOR HOME that needs RENOVATIONS and REPAIRS.

Mimi, has written TWO COOKBOOKS, has a column for FRENCH ELLE and I believe has a TV SHOW.

ON TOP OF ALL THIS SHE HAS A HOUSE FULL OF CHILDREN and FLOWERS.

AS most of you know I had a visit with a CARDIOLOGIST on March 28,th,who was recommended from one of MY READERS HERE!

Rumor had it he liked Carrot Cake so I made a Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting with a dash of lemon juice from my lemon tree.

FIRST THING he said to me, “YOU LOOK FAMILIAR”.I told him what town I lived in and he lives about a mile away!Next I told him I had heard he likes Carrot Cake.He looked PERPLEXED!

I explained the BLOG and that I had a READER who knew someone who had gone to him years ago.

Than I continued on with my HEALTH.

He was worried about getting the china plate back to me!

As you can tell

WE HAD A FEW THINGS IN COMMON.

HE LISTENED to me talk.

HE LISTENED TO MY HEART.

HE MADE AN ATTACK PLAN.

I left his office a VERY HAPPY person.

The headaches are still lingering even if I am on this Heavy duty medication.Need to give it more time.The GOOD NEWS is NO MORE EPISODES.

It has been 16 days since my last one.

I’d say you been on a whirlwind!! Healing takes patience even when you get the correct diagnosis. I believe in combining Eastern and Westerm medicines. Reiki treatments have worked for me and my dogs! Sounds like you are finding new doctor and methods. You will get back in your body/ can you believe all these years you didn’t know you werent there?!? Of course, the coats are divine and love the pictures you take. You are deeply loved and treasured and I adore you. Hugs

Did I tell you that 4 swans flew over my yard yesterday? Sure sign of spring when the swans fly through on migration! I know you are always busy but relaxing in the garden is my prescription for you!
Today I went to the farmers’ market. ––lots of bouquets of tulips,
daffodils, etc. Hope your day went well. Wish I had carrot cake!

It is a cold rainy day here. Only the daffodils and crocus are showing that they are almost ready to face the world. Longing to be in full Spring with everything greening up. I would write more, but I have to go find a pair of wool socks!!!!

Contessa… so glad that you found a Dr. that listens and is helping you overcome the episodes. If you completely want the headaches to leave do this one thing. DO NOT WATCH THE NEWS. I positively love the coat and I need BIG pockets in everything. I am a big fan of Figs and Scallion’s and I am so glad you two met. Hope you are feeling 100% for your fabulous trip!

4. I SWEAR my friend told me about the carrot cake which is why I remembered him!! I will interrogate her after April 17th.
5. I know nothing about Reikei BUT I DO know you have a heart as big as the Grand Canyon. You are a nurturer and now you need some nurturing. I hope some testing gets you more information .

ADORE your curtain coat…especially the pockets for eggs from LA COOP! I will always be amazed how I found you via Mimi… the Medoc internship could not be more perfect for the Young Contessa-in-training…she is going to have the time of her young life. Period.
A big relief to all your tribe that you have found a ‘listening’ cardiologist. Mr. S. had the ablation procedure for A-fib performed today… four hours…he said the OR was like science fiction…a photo of his heart on 5×5 foot screen in blue opalescence w/ tech’s sitting behind glass windows…(but maybe it was the anesthesia.. : )
An earlier post mentioned the Duchess of Devonshire…she is a character (along w/ the Duke, of course) in ‘The Time Seekers’…she is VERY TALL and ELEGANT…Hmmm. Reminds me of someone who wears curtain coats… XO to you, Banksy the gals in the coop, ETC.

  I had the ANGIOGRAM recently and yes the TECH GUY BEHIND THE GLASS SCREEN and your organs up on TV so YOU CAN WATCH!!!!!!!MY GUY asked what kind of music I wanted I replied OPERA………and I GOT IT!
  I hope he JUMPS back quickly……and has a caring staff.
  This is all VERY STRESSFUL for YOU as well…….try and get some rest.
  This aging process……………..NOT for the FAINT of HEART!

Your cloak is absolutely amazing and I totally get the big pockets!
The Reiki out of body stuff sounds quite strange…do you “feel” like you are not in touch with your body? I know some people work themselves until they drop ignoring their feelings of fatigue and that can be very exhausting…
I hope that your new doctor will help you find the answer.

I wonder if it is your eyes? Have you had them tested recently? Headaches can be a result of eye strain…

  YES, eyes were one of the first things to be tested.Someone recently told me to have the pressure in the eyes tested………..which I think they do in a normal exam but will check.AT this point its been almost a YEAR since I started on the JOURNY of WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!

I’m so pleased you have doctor who you like and trust. THAT is half the battle. When you have to second guess and wonder and doubt, you don’t put your body in the right ‘space’ for healing. You are going to knock whatever this is that ails you. 16 days is great progress! xx

I love love the coat, deep pockets are vital for collecting the eggs as I have found on many occasions, when I just don’t have enough hands and I am too lazy to come all the way back up the garden to collect a basket and go back down again! So happy for Francesca, that sounds like a dream job, she’s in our neck of the woods and I can tell you spring is fantastic here at the moment, beautiful warm days and everything is bursting into life. She will have a fabulous time I am sure. xxx

Your curtain coats are gorgeous and so practical for carrying eggs! I love that idea.

As for the carrot cake! Yummy, will you share the recipe?

I am happy that you are feeling better, if only just a little. Each doctor visit brings you a little closer to some answers.

I had some medical issues last year and I saw several doctors who could not give me a diagnosis. I had horrible chest pains, and nausea, then the pain would build up in my neck and down my arm. After suffering an entire day I went to the emergency room at midnight, my husband was out of town. I was there until 4:00 am and they found nothing but said I was dehydrated. I went home and the pain started again and it was so painful it felt as if I wash being poked in the back and stomach with a hot poker and the pain would build up like an inferno and then I would be sick. That happened for 3 days then went away. The pain would come back periodically and it was so bad I looked like a 120 year old lady walking and I could not breath. I had 3 ekg’s and they found nothing. They suggested I had too much stress or acid reflux. I am not sure how I had acid reflux as I was not eating because the pain was so bad.

Anyway, long story short, the symptoms went away so perhaps it was stress, who knows. I go to yoga 6 days a week now so maybe that is helping.

I just love your curtain coats! You are the only person that I know that would have such stylish coats made to gather eggs! It just proves that you truly have a ZEST for living!! I must remember it for my own life which could definitely take a tip from your large one!!

But your episodes worry me. My mother had something similar with her heart. Her aortic valve had calcified, making it hard for the blood to be pushed around her body and she too, would have episodes. Very scary. The good news was that she went through an operation and got better. I pray that you find out just what it is that is causing yours and also your complete recovery.

  AT this point we do not know if it’s the HEAD or the HEART or STRESS………I love how people label things when they cannot figure it OUT!If one isNOT TEXTBOOK. THEROY is it must be STRESS now a days………..Remember when all BOYS were label as ADHD if they were OUT OF CONTROL because there was NO parenting going on……the word NO was not USED but a time out of about two minutes cause thats ALL the MOTHER could STAND!
  I truly believe a child needs to hear the word NO and the reason behind it so he can understand WHY that is a NO NO.

First, that curtain coat (both of them) are gorgeous! LOVE. Mimi and Francesca are both also gorgeous. I will check out their blogs. I love French women as I find them most inspiring. As to your health, I’m so happy to hear you haven’t had an episode in over two weeks! The doctor sounds kind. Let’s talk about the Reichi reading. That is fascinating! Your curtain coats are STUNNING!! I hope that you always sweep through your beautiful garden and swish these coats around a bit on your way to gather the eggs!! Who would have thought that a pocket ruffle could be so charming!!
Not everyone has a “tribe” who clearly loves them the way yours does. Perhaps you need to convince yourself that there is value in being loved from afar?
I don’t know much about Rieke but I’m inspired to learn. Being told that you have left your body (emotionally?) is a compelling diagnoses. I think you may need to explore this further (?)
Though I haven’t followed you long enough to know you well; I do see that you are dramatic, unique, artistic and enthusiastic. I love those qualities in you and they have a lot to do with why I keep coming back. You seem to live your life very dynamically. ..
Maybe finding the love you need is part of your current journey and one to pursue more seriously. I truly see parallels for all of us here. Thankyou for sharing so openly and also for reaching out to your followers. Maybe you’ve discovered how much love IS actually flowing your way.

  I think the LOVE the REIKE Reading was talking about is my surroundings.I had a friend once tell me I was “WASTING AWAY HERE”.She hit a nerve and I had felt that way for a long long time……….let’s just say I never found my TRIBE.I say what I think………I follow up if I say I will call you.I’m always happy to make YOUR DAY a special DAY but people seem to shy away from that…….why is that?SO, most years I give myself a party the likes of what I wish I had experienced in MY GOOD YEARS!Good HOME made food….entertainment of some sort………A CAKE with the RIGHT AMOUNT of CANDLES.Let us all make it a party to remember………otherwise if you all come in jeans………..bring NO GIFT…………do not SING happy BIRTHDAY WHAT IS THE POINT?It is just another GATHERING Of people who are passing time.Hopefully, they enjoy each other or it’s going to be painful.I live on a street where people PRETEND To like one another………….it’s PAINFUL for me to watch.ALSO people do not interact with one another;I find that STRANGE.I also am VERY PERCEPTIVE.Always have been…………which I cannot decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing!

How great to wake up to Scarlet O’Hara who made the beautiful garment out of draperies!!!! Rhett would go wile, girl!!
It is really beautiful. I am surprised a rooster hasn’t chased after you while gathering eggs.

For such an active lady, it must be so difficult to slow down to 55 or 60 mph. Like everyone else here, we believe you are on the way back to your former self. From the looks of these photos, that isn’t very far away. Thank God, for your “audience” here who seem to be knowledgable in so many areas and a thanks to those who have offered their wealth of info.
They seem to be culmination of talent and wisdom to have found you a heart doc who eats carrot cake! Keep us posted about your PROGRESS. I predict big dinner parties by Christmas. And BTW, I love the little table setting with needlepoint rug. Oh, my. Oh, my. You are a gift to the rest of us! Keep getting better. We need and love you!

Your coat is simply divine!! Those pockets are perfect. I’ve never heard of Reiki fine that way. It sounds like fortune telling? I’ve only experienced it as energy moving with hands held just above my body. You must share where you went!! I’m so glad you hear you found a heart Dr with a plan. It’s about time someone took this seriously. Have you tried meditation? It’s marvelous and I think you’d love it. XO

I have followed Mimi Thorisson for a long time. What a coup for Francesca to land a job with her! Am following her on Insta now. Also congrats to your son. I hope he lands a commission or two out of the publicity. And your reference to an old post which garnered only two comments gives me hope. When you are not so busy, I and many other newer bloggers would love to hear about your early days. And how you have built such an engaged following. Last month at Alt Summit, one of the bloggers talked about the rare ability to create a blog with a “comment culture.” And that once it sinks roots, it becomes very very powerful. Kudos my friend. You should be speaking at blog conferences.

  I think the BLOG with MY LITTLE CONTESSA in TRAINING was the second or third post I had done……….you see it ALL started as a site to SHOW and TELL my WARES at the SHOP!IT was never meant to be a BLOG!Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I had ANYTHING to CHAT about and tell the WORLD about especially when I was a C/plus student when it came to ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!
  Once I decided to close the SHOP as the building wasNOT SAFE.Built in the 1800’s and had not been taken care of FOR YEARS, I had to decide what to do with this site……….did I SHUT it DOWN?IT COST ME A FORTUNE by the way………OR did I sell on line and PRETEND to be the HEN HOUSE on LINE and just keep moving forward…….maybe something would come out of it!!!Well,I always loved FASHION……..THE ARTS…………THE THEATRE of LIFE.I really should have been in THEATER.I tear up at EVERY PERFORMANCE I attend or see on TV.That MOVES ME………….

So happy you haven’t had an episode lately, and thrilled for you that you’ve found a cardiologist who listens. A doctor who listens is incredibly important (and too rare these days)!

And may I add… only YOU (and Scarlet O’Hara) could pull off a curtain coat in such glorious fashion! You look spectacular!

Contessa I’m so sorry you’ve had these troubles with your health, I missed some posts when I was away from the internet for a couple of weeks, or more really because when I returned home I continued to avoid being online. As usual you are dealing with everything with grace and style but I am hoping and praying your health returns better than ever. The episodes sound very scary. I’m happy the new medication is keeping them away and perhaps with an adjustment period your head will feel less heavy with it. My daughter has epilepsy and her medication was difficult at first but she completely adjusted and has been seizure free for over two years Knock On Wood!

When I was worried about you (like everyone else), I thought you looked so stressed (understandably)

  NO,I did not have SCARLET in mind when I had these made………I had found at an estate sale and thought these are so GORGEOUS.How can I use them………..and low and behold the COAT/ROBE IDEA began to percolate.MY seamstress thought they would be TOO heavy………..they are but it makes me stand up straight!
  FOR SURE SCARLET WOULD BE AN ALL CAP DAME!!!!!!!!!!
  UNLESS, she was speaking to RHETT BUTLER………soft and demure.

  I am FAR from RECOVERED……………..still tests to do…………on average the EPISODES arrive every two weeks………NOT OUT of the WOODS YET.Plus, the medication I’m on is NOT Much fun……..makes my head heavy and I can tolerate maybe one glass of wine actually less……..OF COURSE, that could be a GOOD THING!THE waist will get smaller………….
  The scary thing is we do not know if its my HEAD or my HEART and WHY It has been happening since before Novemeber………I think you missed TWO POSTS BACK…….GO read that and this should make more sense.
  THANK YOU.I sit quietly WAY MORE THAN 30 minutes…………..and there is SO much THAT I SHOULD BE DOING!!!!
