FLOWER FLOOZY~ Lisa Hallahan

July 13, 2020 48 Comments

HELLO and GOOD DAY!

I am delighted to introduce to you another GARDEN LOVER who is a FRIEND of MINE.

I asked her a few questions for GARDEN FLOOZY and she responded!

My garden is suffering from this last week of HOT HOT DAYS…….

THE ITALIAN CHOPPED AND SHREDDED THE DAISIES so that walk to the chicken coop is NOT so ENCHANTING ANYMORE!

I have been hiding out inside the CASA.

NOT WHERE I WANT TO BE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS!

These photos are from the CHARMING HOME of LISA.

Who once upon a Time shopped at the HEN HOUSE!

A small Antique/Vintage shop owned by yours TRUELY!

PLEASE ENJOY A LITTLE ESCAPE INTO AN ENCHANTING GARDEN WHERE A BUNNY ROAMS FREE!

HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN ATTRACTED TO THE GARDEN OR WAS IT A PASSION THAT CAME LATER IN LIFE?

I’ve always appreciated beautiful, interesting or inspiring settings – interior or exterior. My mood and outlook is deeply affected by my surroundings, so once I had my own garden I loved experimenting with my own space. The results of a study initiated by experts, which was conducted among the victims of a heart attack, showed that the risk of developing this pathology was much higher in https://www.xanalys.com/ambien-zolpidem-online-10-mg/ those who took Ambien sleeping pills. According to scientists, this relationship is easy to explain, owing to the composition of these and many other drugs with similar pharmacological properties including Zolpidem. Once I became a mom, my vision was to create a wonderful reality for my family with the hope they will look back and associate beauty, love, warmth and humor with their childhood.

IF I INVITED YOU TO A GARDEN SOIREE AND I ASKED YOU TO COME AS A FLOWER WHICH ONE WOULD YOU PICK?

I would absolutely come as a rose! There has to be not only beauty, but scent! I love rose oils and waters-anything that has to do with roses!  My kids could probably locate me in the dark-I’ve worn a rose sent for years! Intoxicating!

DO YOU PREFER TO LEAVE YOUR FLOWERS IN THE GARDEN OR DO YOU PICK AND BRING INSIDE?

I prefer to have flowers and vegetation inside and out! Interior design is a passion of mine and I always have fresh flora from my garden throughout the home. I love the interior to reflect the exterior and my favorite floral combinations include fruits and veggies along with the flowers.

WHICH SEASON IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Spring leading into Summer is my favorite season because my entire fence is lined with Pink Jasmine and we have a lot of sun, soooo… the first rose blooms arrive on my over 80 bushes while the jasmine is in full bloom. Talk about a scent! You can smell the yard a mile away!

WHICH GARDEN BOOKS RESONATE WITH YOU BESIDE YOUR OWN AND PLEASE TELL US THE NAMES OF YOUR BOOKS!?!!

Rather than garden books, I get my inspiration for my garden in movies, children’s books and in magazines.  Movies set in England, Italy and France such as A Room with a View, About Time, A Good Year, Call Me By Your Name and Peter Rabbit. In fact, my vegetable/flower garden is inspired by Beatrix Potter and the many hours spent reading her books to my children. We even have a resident bunny that sneaks under the gate.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE WHEN YOU GO INTO THE GARDEN TO WORK?DO YOU HAVE A PAIR OF GLOVES THAT YOU LIKE BETTER THAN OTHERS?

I very much enjoy my overalls when gardening and I use my Hestra Job rose gloves when I prune because the leather goes up to my elbow and I get aggressive with pruning! Most days I enjoy the feel of the soil and challenge of not getting pricked by a thorn. No need to protect these hands or nails-the hand modeling career was over before it started.

IF YOU COULD INVITE ANYONE TO COME SIP A LEMONADE IN YOUR GARDEN WHO WOULD IT BE?GONE FROM THIS EARTH OR STILL ALIVE..

If I could invite ANYONE in this world, dead or alive, to sit with me in my garden it would be my dad. We lost him 5 years ago and I still mourn every single day. We would sip an Insignia Cabernet Sauvignon from his cellar and talk about the kids and we would laugh a lot. It would be magical.

LEAVE US WITH A GARDEN QUOTE THAT SUMS UP WHO YOU ARE?

Impossible to “sum up” who we are. Depending on weather, season, smells and surroundings, internal stories we tell ourselves, responsibilities we have and challenges we face. My reality changes minute to minute. What I do know is walking barefoot through my garden, taking in the bugs, birds and animals and smelling either the fresh morning dampness or the sweetness of flowers or the geranium and tomato leaves, grounds me and helps create a beautiful sense of optimism for the day at hand.

I absolutely love the feel of the vessels in my hand and the fresh scent.

LISA SAYS…….

“After having children, I became aware of the amount of toxins we experience every day in our environment, in our food and what we put on our skin(our largest organ!) Eating organic and using healthy nontoxic products on myself and children, I discovered BEAUTYCOUNTER through a friend. Not only is Beautycounter a leader in nontoxic skin care and make up, it also challenges the industry to do better. Creating a NEVER LIST to more than 1,800 ingredients and as a company they supported Congress’ first vote on cosmetics in 80 years! It’s crazy how few dangerous products are not restricted in the US!
Funny how it took caring for my kiddos to appreciate health.
When I’m not in my garden, walking my dog or hanging out with my family or bunny, I enjoy spreading the word on CLEAN beauty!

I do enjoy this series. I like how Lisa walks barefoot thru her garden – how many people do that!

She is very attune to nature in her garden. A lovely variety of flowers/plants and trees.

The tee pee is a perfect place to curl up in after a day of gardening.

Such a fun post. I love Lisa’s obvious heart for her family and children and that she read them Beatrix Potter as I did! Pure magical. So sweet about sipping time and conversations with her precious Dad. I miss mine too everyday. Such great questions Contessa as we got a glimpse into Lisa’s heart for her beautiful garden and life! I would love to meet her some day.

    Ciao Bella,

I am enjoying your Garden posts! It’s especially delightful from where I’m sat in my wintery apartment. This is my sort of voyeurism! … On the subject of scent, I got out of the habit of wearing it when we used to hang out more with Serious-Wine-People who believe perfume wearing to be a Crime. Such a silly thing to have gone along with and now I’ve really got to remember to put some on as the habit is long gone. I remember buying a tiny bottle of Violet scent at the pharmacy for a gift for my Mum when I was a child, thinking it was the most heavenly smell, and it’s vivid purple was very pretty with its gilt-edged label (for all of about 50 cents most likely!) I can still recall the cloying whiff I took in the shop! Unsurprisingly, she never wore it, hahah!!!

That was delightful! Somehow I feel a real kinship with her. I wonder if she would mind sharing the name of the rose scent she wears, as I assume it’s organic?
I enjoyed her garden, her rabbit, her adorable dog, her adorable house…..all of it!

Because her home and garden looks like it could be in England. Lovely post. Thank you CONTESSA and Lisa for sharing your world.

I’ve got my deck looking pretty good, and enjoying my limited “garden” out there, and I will continue to dream about someday having one with lots of roses and sweet smelling jasmine like Lisa’s!

Dear, dear Contessa! HELLO! You know, I can’t access your blog off your comments or my roll; I have to Google your page because a Domain page always comes up when I click on your comment!

Oh it’s great to see the garden fun here. The more animals, the more garden paths and the most flowers, the better. WE ALL NEED THIS! What times we are in, huh? I know you have a secret to your own sanity: your fun and happy husband, your home, boys, PIG! LOL – you shine my lovely dame.

Yes, in answer to your rhetorical question, “How did we come to this point” regarding how people treat one another, you know, I see it like this. We are all broken ground. We are all gardeners. What we reap, we shall sow. That’s a law of nature as well as a law of life. You mentioned that you are having a conversation with a woman in NM who refuses to wear a mask! Incredible. With all the data, the deaths, the complications, I too do not understand WHY many people take a position as such. That is why my husband and I have not gone anywhere except to buy groceries and to take a walk as far enough away from crowds because these days, you just don’t know what people are going to do.

So my dear, as in your usual elegant style, keep going and bring joy to those who love you and to those who don’t see your point of view. I hope that everyone at some point will see the beautiful truth.
