HERE I AM IN MY VALENTINE GIFT FROM THE ITALIAN!

HE BOUGHT ME THE JOHNNY WAS DRESS AT MY REQUEST BUT OF COURSE TOLD ME NO RIGHT AWAY WHEN I MENTIONED IT!

EVERYTHING IS A NO with HIM!

BUT MOST TIMES HE COMES THROUGH………..

HOWEVER, I WAS EXPECTING A GOLD BRACELET!!!

MAYBE THAT WILL TURN UP FOR MY BIRTHDAY OR AGAIN IT MAY NOT!!!

I WAS TOLD I HAD TOO MANY DRESSES!

HE IS MISTAKEN AS I DONOT HAVE MANY DRESSES I HAVE MANY CAFTANS!

WHY DO I LIKE THIS DRESS?IT HITS MY ARCHES OF MY FEET AND HAS A FLOWER MOTIFF!

A WIN WIN SITUATION ALL THE WAY AROUND!

THIS DRESS CAN GO FROM MORNING TILL NIGHT………..in the summer time!

I THINK IT WILL MAKE A GOOD DRESS TO DO THE FOOD SHOPPING IN!

IT WILL ELEVATE MY MOOD AND MAKE ME PUSH THAT CART WITH ZEST RATHER THAN WISH I WAS ELSEWHERE!

IT’s light weight and really needs NO ACCESSORIZING!

I normally do NOT wear BLUE so this is a different color for me!

Good to STEP OUT OF THE BOX from time to time!

ALL I NEED IS MY BASKET HANDBAG AND AWAY I GO!

HERE YOU HAVE A BULLS EYE VIEW OF THE KITCHEN COUNTERS!

AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS AREA CLEARED OFF IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!

ALL THOSE PILLS AND VITAMINS ARE GOING HOWEVER!

I ONLY USE ONE PILL THERE NOW.

THE COFFEE CUPS are displayed on the STOVE so I do not have to bend and make a decision upside down!

I ADORE MY KITCHEN BUT COULD HAVE USED MORE CABINET SPACE!

OH WELL, ITS JUST THE TWO OF US NOW AND I SUPPOSE ONE DOES NOT NEED 35 coffee and tea cups!

HOW MANY SHOULD I KEEP?

THAT IS THE QUESTION!

TWO ARE HIS……..THEY ARE UGLY..BELIEVE ME!!!!!

I took my HENS and one DOVE to LIVE OUT THEIR LIVES IN SONOMA!

I HAD TO GET RID OF THEM DUE TO LADY WINDERMERE.

THATS RIGHT THE WINE COUNTRY WITH A NORWEGIAN & an AUSTRALIAN.

BELIEVE YOU ME THEY WILL HAVE A GOOD LIFE!

THIS GORGEOUS ROOSTER JUST SHOWED UP AT THEIR COMPOUND A FEW DAYS BEFORE WE DID!

THE REGAL ROOSTER she calls BEAU!

MAYBE HE WAS LOOKING FOR DASHMAN!

DASHMAN occasionally leaves the compound to go for a walk!

He now has a TRACKER ON HIS SHELL!

HE WAS RESCUED by TANIA from a cement garage floor where he had lived the last 20 years!NO GRASS NO GREENS!

NO WONDER HE WANTS TO EXPLORE!

GO DASHMAN GO!!!!

THIS is DASHMAN’s CASITA!

This is where MY HENS were found the first night!

Tania couldn’t find them anywhere but noticed DASHMAN was making more than normal sounds!

The GIRLS had found his shelter and one was even PERCHED ON TOP OF HIM!

I DO NOT THINK HE LIKED IT VERY MUCH!

THE AUDACITY OF THOSE GIRLS!

THEY KNEW A NICE SOULMATE WHEN THEY SAW HIM!

SPEAKING OF SOULMATES………

MY GIRLS BEING RELEASED TO THEIR NEW HOME!

We as a FAMILY have had chickens for the last 22 years if not more.It was a sad day for me to PART WAYS………….but I do know they have gone to THE BEST HOME POSSIBLE.Who knows maybe once I get this BACTERIA out of MY LUNGS and BODY we can do it AGAIN!I was told I have LADY WINDERMERE SYNDROME which comes from BIRDS!I had a comment left about how its in our water as well and that THE BACTERIA FALLS FROM THE SHOWER HEADS!……….https://www.atsjournals.org/doi/full/10.1513/AnnalsATS.201301-013FR

What a delightful post. Your dress is gorgeous and the Italian sweet. You chose a good one all those years ago.
You are very good to your animals. Lovely to find a new home for the chickens. Tania seems like a saint to me, rescuing so many animals.
I was amazed at the many colours those eggs have. I have only ever seen brown and white ones.
Sorry to hear your long trouble isn’t cured yet. Hopefully the tips about the shower and getting rid of the chickens will help.

I am thinking French : LE POULAILLER DE LA CONTESSA…. The Contessa’s Hen House…. tres chic : ) Sonoma Chicks is the perfect Maison de Poules for the Orinda gals… and LOVE that they bonded with Dashman immediately!!! This has the elements of a wonderful short story : ) All the residents of Sonoma Chicks are so fortunate… Tania has angel wings and the sanctuary she has created is simply beautiful.

Love the dress, the blue, the heap of teacups and coffee cups, the blossoms, the wonderland kitchen landscape, and most of all, that you are feeling better, off the antibiotics for now, and appetite returning–such good news!!!

Elizabeth this was the most enjoyable post ever. I was cracking up here in my bed at 1:30 reading. Love that your girls are now gone to a beautiful home. They already have a nice boyfriend with that turtle!! Maybe they should call the coop The Golden Girls!

I love that dress on you. It is just perfect. I think blue looks great on you, maybe you should branch out and start trying some more blues. I should look for a dress like that although you are so tall and slim, I am tall but slim no longer describes my stature… This darn menopause left me with about 25 extra pounds , then Covid hit so it’s not been good!! I love your kitchen, we have a drawer with about 40 coffee cups in it, my husband always says we should get rid of a few, but I don’t know which one I could part with. Like all my things I have memories.

My favorite picture is the Italian with the baby chickens or geese on his stomach. That was darling.

Now off to read my new book from my friend , Elizabeth!!

I love the Johnny dress on you! It is perfect. Blue is one of my favorite colors. What a wonderful home you found for your beloved hens, LA CONTESSA. An amazing property run by a caring woman. Her website really shows off what she’s all about. I’m sorry you had to lose them but good to know you can visit. Love the pic of the Italian with the ‘chicks’. OMG, he reminds me of my guy.   NO!ONE PILL FOR THE HEART TWICE A DAY…………I had heart surgery 11 years ago!
  NO meds for LADY WINDERMERE as we are giving my BODY A BREAK!
  THE others were supplements…………I don’t think I was eating enough for the meds to work right.Possibly giving my stomach problems.Once I stopped the antibiotics my stomach has BEEN VERY GOOD!I LIKE VERY GOOD SO AM MAKING AN EXECUTIVE DECISION!!!!!!!!!!FOR THE MOMENT!
  I guess I should mention the GI DOCTOR found nothing inside my body to merit my difficulties and wanted to put me on an anti depressant for NAUSEA.With SIDE EFFECTS.
  I SAID NO THANK YOU!
  WHY DO THEY WANT TO PATCH INSTEAD OF FINDING THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM?

Absolutely love the dress. You knew I would. I had to think for a minute … what is the difference between a dress and a caftan. So glad you’re venturing into blue … it suits you. And, well done to the Italian. As for your beloved hens and pigeon … parting is such sweet sorrow. Their new home is divine and they’ll be happy there. And a visit is just a wine tasting trip away. What an amazing person is Tania?! To house and love these precious animals in such beauty and comfort. I’m sure they return the favor with sweetness, affection and many laughs. The serendipity of you finding the “B” bell just warmed my heart…sometimes life throws us sweet gifts, doesn’t it?
Your chickies have landed in the perfect spot, tho I know how you’ll miss them. So many charming coop names have been suggested here – looking forward to the final pick.
I see that someone identified your garden buddy as a butterfly. I recognized it immediately as a variety that lays eggs in our Elm tree. I looked it up and it is a Mourning Cloak butterfly, and its caterpillars delight in decimating Elms. Thought you might enjoy that bit of trivia!

Your feathered friends certainly have found the very best home to retire , it looks simply wonderful and you know they will be so loved.

Hi Elizabeth,
First, that dress/caftan is gorgeous, you are gorgeous in it! (I would meet to cut off one foot of fabric from the bottom!). You have a new closet, plenty of room for one more dress!
The photo of the ducklings watching TV with GP is so adorable. I know you’re sad about the chickens but you found them an absolutely perfect place to live out their retirement years! I love it up there and envy those animals!!
I’ve been getting rid of stuff from my kitchen too. Just took a bunch of boxes to Goodwill. I unwrapped my mom’s wedding china and put in in the cabinet and am using every day now, it along with things I kept that I loved. No sense leaving it wrapped in a box for another 50+ years. Hutschenreuther from Germany, her wedding china which was never used. It’s so pretty and ’m at the place now where I only want things I really love around me. I try to get rid of the ugly mugs all the time. My husband somehow finds them and returns them to to the cabinet. He uses the ugliest one and I guess I’m going to have to accidentally drop it on the stone floors in order to get rid of it!
I hope you will be feeling really good come spring. Take it easy, enjoy the early days in your garden! I’ve captured a few of your photos to paint if you don’t mind, those magnolias are magnificent!

    My mom had china we used for holidays and Sunday dinners and other special occasions. We always sat at a beautifully styled table for meals. But she thought her wedding china was old fashioned. She had a modern Rosenthal pattern, very 60’s chic that we used instead. I personally like the old stuff better!

Love the dress! Being a tall gal myself finding a garment that is nice and long is always a win. And I really like blue.

never a dull moment is there Elizabeth! I have been packing up stuff, so tired, I believe you have more stuff than I do and I have too much. It is so hard to figure out what to let go, I have too many fabulous heavy glasses and the weight is fabulous, Ralph Lauren and others, what did I do, put them in a box. I am trying to find a new home to buy and open to moving even out of state. Some of moms stuff was in the garage, I was out of state working, for 18 years and you talk about filthy, I am exhausted with it all. I am washing the plastic 30 gallon tubs to reuses, I found what I paid for them then, $5.00 and looked to buy more, now $11.00 each up, gets pricey when you need 15 or more! I am getting everything out of paper boxes finally to make it easy to move and stack. Wish you were here, I would load you up on stuff to have and vintage..even antique. I knew you would understand. That ROOSTER sure looks proud doesn’t he….look at his chest out! LOVE your dress….looks fab on you! xo Suzanna

Lucky for your height………..dress is gorgeous on you. Had several similar patterned dresses in the 70’s – 80’s. Have similar shoes in closet.

I carry a basket for shopping, and another as my ‘purse’. Also use a basket traveling for work, those are 3 basket days. Truly, 4 basket days……………….you must know, LUNCH is in the 4th basket.

Takes awhile to load my little van!! And, unload……………

The dress ia beautiful, and you pull it off spectacularly, being tall and svelte.
I hope Lady Windermere bites the dust soon. (Can she at least help you get a vaccine ASAP?) It’s odd, because people who live on farms have fewer allergies than non-animal-owning city dwellers. The regular exposure to different microbes supposedly helps the immune system stay in shape. Personally, I am all for animals, but not anywhere near me. Happily, that hasn’t caused me to get allergies.
Re kitchens, I’m redoing one and all the lower cabinets will be drawers. So much easier to get to things that are low and in the back. The carpenter says I have planned too much storage, but I think he is wrong.

The Italian came up trumps!! Your dress is gorgeous, those sleeves! It puts me in mind of those illustrations from the 70s of fat-cheeked girls with long eye lashes in dresses and big hats looking all coy and holding flowers – they were everywhere and had a name that escapes me, Bonny Belles or something – anyhow, that is a dress Pipistrellina would have coveted big time!

Your girls have gone to a lovely home. Hopefully they’ll make friends eventually, some of the feathered residents look beyond gorgeous and I’m sure they’ll be able to trade lifestyle tips and chew over the feathery looks they’ve seen in their time.

That dress is amazing and I love the colors on you! So gorgeous. I love your way of thinking with saying you don’t have too many dresses… ! Love your kitchen how it is. Next time I come I’ll be able to choose the coffee cup that suits me the most. But of course, I can understand that it’s sometimes necessary to get rid of a few things.
