I am arriving oh so late to this party – I hope you will still get this message. You are the perfect complement to the lovely fall display in your garden. And you were the belle of the ball at the Palace! I know you are having a time of it, but if I may say, you look more relaxed and happy in these photos than ever. You must be doing something positive for yourself. As to the drugs, have you considered contacting the manufacturer? My sister-in-law did that for some very expensive drugs for my mother-in-law, and they gave her a really nice price break. It’s at least worth a try. Happiest of birthdays to your driver, AKA Juliet – tell her to NOT shut her mouth, as it shows such expression and adds to her beauty. I will write you a proper message soon.

I love Tussie Mussies….I use to send them in tiny silver vases along with invitations to special designer personal appearances when I was at Saks Fifth Avenue. We had a florist in Chicago who specialized in the tiny arrangements using flowers that could dry perfectly so lasting reminders! Yes, let’s bring them back along with the stunning sterling silver holders!!!!

Oh, my! You and your gorgeous friends are beautiful enough to compete with that architecture IMHO. Lovely photos. Looks like “A good time was had by all” which was my grandmother’s favorite saying. Chocolate covered strawberries are my favorite dessert! I like to have them for New Year’s Eve, as they pair so well with the sparkling!

La La magazine cover. The cover helps to market and sell the magazine. Someone needs to submit that picture that has connections.
Oh Elizabeth you must have had a bird or two when you heard the medicine would cost you $4,239. Holy Crap.
Good for you for trying to communicate with your pharmacy. A good cry gets all the upsetting stuff out. I do the same more often than not now in my life. It beats expensive therapy 101.

So sorry to be late too this post.. In the weeds here getting ready for the son and Thanksgiving. What a fun day and I do feel this was such a nice way to kick off the holidays with our sweet Juliet’s birthday. Thank you so much for the planning and everything. I had such a great time. I am with you those chairs need an upgrade. Looks sort of like corporate hotel stuff… This room deserves better!!!

Loved meeting Laurie. She’s fun and so sweet. I loved my tussie mussie and it’s still thriving.. As Laurie said, I am living like Aerie Lauder now with flowers in my bath! Juliet is a doll and I feel so lucky to be partners and blog with her. She looks barely 40!! She needed a good kick off to a special year. Adore you all and thank you again for this beautiful day. It was worth the drive and I would do it again.. the time went too fast.
P.S. glad you found your meds, but is that the cost out of pocket? How is someone expected to afford this? We need universal prescription coverage like other nations.

What a wonderful afternoon! A real day brightener! So elegant/delectable. Wish I had been there.
Love your caftan colours/pattern.
I was 60 once – we flew to Whitehorse (Yukon) to celebrate – I wanted to experience winter and the North. People we met there thought we were crazy to come in December – it was minus 25 degrees. Lots of snow. I loved it.
The TM I make up in the summer – love giving them to people.
Such fond memories everyone will have of the celebration.

Contessa! First let me say, I’m sorry about your medication. It looked like a great thing was about to happen and then the realty of our ridiculous pharmaceutical price gouging set in. Oof. Well you recovered well from your well deserved cry … and produced a masterpiece of a blog post. Again. How do you do it? Our two weeks of fall is spectacular and I love how you dress to compliment the scene … like a painting. THANK YOU for arranging the most beautiful luncheon tea with my BFF Kim and new BFF Laurie. Of course, the Preppy Empty Nester, my original BFF, has family to attend to … and I was floored by her generous and lovely gifts. In fact, I’m using one of them this morning. Check my Instagram stories. If Mrs. Clooney says I’m a Big Deal on my Blog than I AM A BIG DEAL ON MY BLOG! My stuttering and gushing when presented with her lovely gift bag was quite embarrassing … thank goodness she was not there to witness it. Anyway, I recovered from not one, but two surprises. Laurie! What a delight … and she lives around the corner from me. She does need to start a blog … floral arranging is something I would love to get better at (although I’m beyond hopeless) and I would READ that blog! Her tussie mussies are the best and mine is still looking lovely in a little blue and white glass. Don’t say at 60 we can’t learn new (old) things! Once again, Contessa … THANK YOU for your friendship, blog encouragement and introductions to so many fabulous people including Kim and most recently Laurie … and for wrong arming the Preppy Empty Nester to giving me the birthday surprise of my life! xoxo P.S. Oh my, what a treat is must have been to have tea in such a beautiful place. I’ve promised my son to take him during the Christmas holidays. Well, not to the same place you were at of course 🙂
It has finally gotten cold here and the sky is grey. I am enjoying it and looking forward to the Christmas period. We have some holidays coming up so that is even better. The 8th of December will mark 21 years since I met my husband. I am typing that and I cannot even believe it has been so long. Sometimes I feel like it’s only been a couple of years.
I agree with you about the burgundy and grey. They seem a bit off.
You look marvellous in your yellow outfit. It looks good on you.
The health system in America is way too complicated and the amount of money you pay for meds is ridiculous. Once we were there a my husband needed a cream. It cost $500 dollars from the US so we didn’t buy it. Came back here and got it for 40 euros which is about $45.Unbelievable. I hope you get your meds. I think your pharmacy should be able to order them if they are available in another State but, of course, I don’t know the rules in the US so I could be wrong.
Take care and enjoy the festivities. I am still trying to fix all the issues I’m having with my blog. It’s a pain.

  YES, I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT THE PRICES OF MEDICATIONS NOW FOR YEARS BUT NEVER REALLY PAID MUCH ATTENTION AS MOST OF OURS ARE FREE OR A TEN DOLLAR CO-PAY!IN THAT RESPECT WE HAVE GREAT INSURANCE!!!

The grand court tea looks amazing! How fabulous that you all were able to get together and celebrate Juliet’s 60th…the Tussie Mussies are very lovely and elegant. Little thoughtful touches are always appreciated…

Send me the name of your prescription and I will ask our local pharmacy if they can fill it and if it can be sent through the mail…customs may have issues with shipment but it definitely is worth exploring.
BTW I popped a wee parcel in the mail yesterday so I hope it arrives safe and sound.

And you are right about the upholstery, one of the last photos shows pinkish orchids behind you and the color looks gorgeous with all the golds of the huge room.
So sorry about the high cost of your meds but I hope you checked out the Canadian pharmacy – I can attest to the first one recommended by another reader.

First off…”Elegant” will never be passe! That grey and burgundy is hideous ….and as you mentioned is probably very durable and will never get replace ? Very sad to have all that beauty and then the dinette like seating…? Second…..“Katie Clooney” and her blog is terrific….. she is a kick in the pants and twice a week she always brightens my day. First of ALL……… the “red” lipstick looks AMAzing on YOU! I had completely forgotten about “tussie mussies”.. most definitely going to bring them back into my life when attending birthDAY celebrations ! I take an injectable pen which costs a fortune even with GOODrx and Medicare. Actually meeting with someone today to discuss changing plans. Prescription costs are out of sight here in US.
I keep playing with “blogging”.. wrote a few .. really want to make this some type of habit.. Keep sending more sites/people to follow.

The burgundy and gray looks like chairs delivered to the wrong address. A scroll or damask pattern leather in marbled burnt sienna, teal, ecru subtle tones like an antique map, works for me.

All of those lovely, happy and exuberant SMILES are just what every needs these days! What a wonderful way to celebrate Juliet’s birthday! I would have just loved to have been there. The Tea Room is beautiful. A real nod to an era past, but definitely still the ambiance to spark one’s imagination. Agree totally with you about the lack of textile design on those chairs! I know the company and laughter made up for it! Happy Thanksgiving Contessa!

    Well, I’m cooking! But it is only for 3 this year! And we have decided on a totally non-American menu. Lamb chops, eggplant parmigiana and pasta, of course! I will make a pumpkin pie though!

Tussie – Mussies sound fabulous, I’m with ya! So sweet too! Elizabeth, I am sure you know about GoodRx site/app. It compares script cost at various locations to find the best price. I had a dermatologist script they wanted $500 & GoodRx found it for $39.00. I know it’s not comparable to your over $3K; how crazy are these costs. Sometimes Canadian pharmacies can be competitive from the USA options. Never the less everyone looks fantastic at the birthday celebration! So much fun! Thank you again for sharing!! Goodness, what a treat! In all the years I lived there, I never went to the Palace Hotel.
I loved the architecture, as well as seeing y’all enjoying a beautiful tea.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and family and blessings to the critters. I so miss not having a pet. It’s allowed in my building, so, maybe soon.
