HOTEL CARMINE is a three star GEM.An old nunnery restored to host THE TOURIST.

Cruising the gardens………

Across the street from our hotel window.

See that RED SIGN on the building?
There is a house FOR SALE and I am ALWAYS INQUISITIVE!

THE MORNING SPREAD in THE NUNNERY!
CAN YOU GUESS WHO WENT CRAZY HERE?

What comes to YOUR MIND when you see this little balcony?
For me it is Romeo and Juliet!

RUINS IN MARSALA…………… in the middle of our walk through the town.
No garbage.
No grafiti.

THE SALT FARM. On the way to catch a ferry to MOZIA. A small island full of artifacts.I was in MY ELEMENT!A very good friend of THE ITALIAN told him he must take me there and HE WAS RIGHT!

The RED VELVET Venetian shoe belonged to a man on the ferry.
I thought that was an interesting choice for such a HOT DAY.

1921 archeological dig on the island of……..MOZIA.
FOUND TREASURE!
READ below for the history of this very small island.

A GREEK STATUE found on the island of MOZIA.

A MAN FROM THE 5th century BC.
They can tell how his arms were from the CARVED SHOULDER MUSCLES!
Found in 1979.

INCREDIBLE………..
YES, I would have LOVED to bring HIM HOME WITH US!

Todays Theater /Drama mask!
From the SIXTH century if I have my Roman numerals RIGHT?

Note there was a door at one time by the horizontal latch.

ARTIFACTS from MOZIA………..there were so many items found. It was as if you were wandering around in that period of history. They are STILL DIGGING!Below is a set of cosmetic tools I thought were FASCINATING!
WE WOMEN HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TRYING TO ENHANCE OUR BEAUTY!

KUDOS to the person who put this BACK TOGETHER!

There were cases and cases of these little pots!

BACK TO OUR NUNNERY, which I HAVE TO SAY OUT OF ALL THE HOTELS WE STAYED IN………
WAS MY FAVORITE.THE COLORFUL ROOM.
Tiles on the floor.
THE VIEW ACROSS THE PIAZZA!
THE CHURCH BELLS RINGING EVRY MORNING!
THE CHOIR SINGING from inside the church on SUNDAY!
The garden area and the EASY PARKING right in front!
IT REALLY WAS A LITTLE GEM.

The food wasn’t bad either………….
I always found a PERCH to sit on!
And in this case a plant to match!

The GORGEOUS ITALIAN went for PASTA as his first course; where I went for the octopus salad.

40 YEARS NEXT JULY!
I do BELIEVE there were a few betting against us in 1986, meaning it wouldn’t LAST!
I am HOLDING ON AS LONG AS I CAN!
DO YOU KNOW HE IS BASICALLY, THE SAME WEIGHT AS WHEN WE GOT MARRIED?

I cannot even begin to DESCRIBE MY HAPPINESS with this bread!
ALL the restaurants had it and it was GLUTEN FREE!
The brand is SCHAR.
I thought it was German, but I have a READER HERE on the blog who has found it in ARIZONA and she sent me the packaging which says MADE IN ITALY!
SO, now I’m on a HUNT for it here in CALIFORNIA!
I ATE EVERY LITTLE CRUMB OF IT AT EVERY MEAL JUST BECAUSE I COULD!

I want to say this was HALIBUT, but I could be wrong. It was delicious whatever it was…………

LEMON GLUTEN FREE PASTA.

ICE CREAM………..better known as GELATO!

I THOUGHT THIS WAS FUNNY, because you HARDLY EVER SEE AN OVERWEIGHT ITALIAN!

One of the walled entrances to the city of MARSALA.
We would take an after dinner stroll every night to help the DIGESTION!
Very warm and always people in the streets.

This is one of MY FAVORITES photos I took on our trip.
He is dressed in BLUE just like the church door!
How could this photo be better in my opinion?
(If THAT TREE was not in a PLASTIC POT!)Is the correct answer!

THE THINGS ONE STUMBLES UPON IN SICILY is a COMPLETE DELIGHT to the SENSES!
That is a WRAP on MARSALA and the tiny island of MOZIA.
I keep losing a bunch of YOU READERS after these travel posts…………
BUT I WILL KEEP ON AS A FEW OF YOU ARE ENJOYING THEM and it helps me RE-LIVE the trip!
I DO HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU!WHAT MADE YOU FOLLOW ME IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Antiques, fashion, style for older women, decor?
TELL ME WHY YOU READ ME!
I NEED TO KNOW!

I thought this was worth mentioning as the FOOD PRICES have NEVER BEEN SO HIGH here in CALIFORNIA!
I sent THE ITALIAN for fruit and his bread.
THREE ITEMS TOTALED $35.04.
Five yellow peaches were $12.38 end of season.
Green grapes $14.67 for almost three pounds. The bag you see below.
ACME ITALIAN BATARD bread $7.99.
YES, this was the EXPENSIVE GROCERY STORE which I seldom shop at, but with good reason it was close to his other errand.Plus, they get LOCAL fruit.Which being the end of the season I thought would be a TREAT.As I LOVE SUMMER FRUIT!
The grapes had a little flavor and the peaches less…………
The BREAD I FOUND TO BE OUTRAGEOUS!
IN FACT, I WAS DOWN RIGHT MAD that I SENT HIM THERE!
QUICK HEALTH REPORT!
The EYE EPISODES are still GONE!THE ATLAS IS HOLDING!It has been FIVE MONTHS NOW!
THE HEART Failure is still working OVERTIME as the BLOOD PRESSURE is hovering below 100 now.
I cannot take the heart meds if it’s not over 100.TOP NUMBER.
LOW BLOOD PRESSURE makes you light headed and tired all the time.
THE LUNGS are acting UP!
THE COUGH from THE LADY WINDERMERE or better known as NON TUBERCULOSIS BACTERIUM is GETTING WORSE to the point I’m vomiting daily.
THE BACK IS MUCH BETTER FINALLY!
IAM NOT A JOY TO BE AROUND.
In fact, I will be the first one to tell you I am CRANKY!
Other than that I am getting a FEW DRAWERS CLEANED OUT!
HIP HIP HOORAY!
