Received! The Contessa is back in business. I don’t often go back to old posts unless I’ve just discovered a new blog and want a deeper dive. Or … I’m purposely searching for something specific which means it’s probably a recent post. Love your new caftan … what a happy fabric. Dear Contessa, I do like the new format, and one can type in the comments box with nice big letters now. So soothing! Your post to email came right on time and the link through my Blogger account came in as per usual. No problemo!

Would I theoretically go back to the beginning of someone’s blog? I have when there aren’t many posts but 14 years of material is quite daunting so I in that instance I would just go forward from now. Might I suggest, rehash old stories with abandon, for isn’t that one of the perquisites of, ahem, mature years? We repeat our stories endlessley!!

As hard as it is, start new and move forward and don’t worry about the blogs you lost, although as a blogger, I can identify with how you feel. I prefer the new white background and black type better because it’s so much easier to read. Love the first comment about what if you give us some highlights of your life like what was it like to live in Italy and meeting Giampiero and your wedding! I think you have an opportunity to use the past BLOG Posts as INSPIRATIONS for new Posts. 🙂

Specifically, you can re-write the Post about your FAMOUS Paris Photo Shoot. I’m sure the photos are handy. Secondly, the Post about the time you and G dressed up for a Photo book (was it a book?). That was so hysterical. And, certainly the photos that Ari took could provide inspiration for a follow-up Post. Lastly, (but I know you could come up with more) you can recap all the furry children that have made appearances in the BLOG (Chickens, Winston, Banksy, etc). Your many animals are always so well loved. <3

I realize and appreciate all the efforts you put into each Post. So, I only offer these suggestions as POSSIBLE content ideas for the future; not to put any extra pressure on your time. Work at your pace, and just know your devoted fans are happily waiting for anything you offer.

If I am new to a blog, I will look at old posts. Since I’ve been following you for several years now, I’m not as likely to click the archives. Still, if you want your photos, then just have your techy girl grab them all and reload them up to your new site’s photo library. Then you’ll have them if you need them. You can use older photos for new posts!

Hi Contessa! I did happen upon this post yesterday and also received the email this morning, just as you said. What a cool ice sculpture- at first I wasn’t sure what I was seeing, just beautiful. Love the photo with the horse trailer and the surprise rainbow running through. I actually thought your foot was part of the tapestry and footstool when I first glanced at it, ha. I do really enjoy going back and looking at your older posts and photos. I did that after my surgery in February and really got to know you that way. But, a fresh start is also wonderful and I do like the white background. Do what works for you! I do hope you can continue the blog after all the recent challenges. Things have been blooming down here in La Mesa, but now we are in our coastal “May Gray” days, with rain today. Take Care! 🙂

The process seems pretty seamless to me, of course I am new to your blog, and I only had two other issues. I for one would definitely miss the pictures because I think you’re pretty unique in what you post…you post what you love and want to share. I enjoy the combination of VERY special household and garden vignettes, plus clothing and shoes! And, of course, Banksy was a big part of that blog and I think, throwing in a picture or two of him would be sweet. Blog on, darling.

So that is what happened to your original blog! I’m so glad that your new techy gal could restore it (more or less). To date, I have not had a reason to go back to a past blog post. Hold tight, your garden will bloom into a floral heaven. We have had a cool (and recently wet) Spring in New England too so far (except for a couple of hot days 3 weeks a go), so we too are a bit behind with buds and blooms. All we all need is some warm sunny weather to get Spring back on track!

After wordpress changed their editor, I have struggled with it, avoided writing. Thought about changing but was too freaked out at the thought. Look what you did! It’s a pretty, fresh update in white, and I like your headings in gold. Good job!

The redesign is Perfetto! Always good to see your face–and to admire your style. I had a brief encounter with Scarlett Johansson in an elevator in NYC–I was picking up theatre tickets for the office, and she was rehearsing in the same space for a Broadway production. Her: Sneakers, no make-up (Me–no sneakers that day, and make-up was my body armor for the office!) She is lovely. And the two of you looked beautiful side by side in your collection of photos here!

  That was MY MOTHER’s NAME and as you know our dogs name NOW!
  MY mother grew up on a farm in Indiana.They would bring the runt of the litter into the kitchen.I grew up with those stories and have ALWAYS wanted a PIG.Took that first born to go get one and then move so WE ENDED UP WITH HIM!BEST PET EVER after THE ITALIAN hooked the recycle to the wall so no DUMPING could happen!WE LOVED HIM AND HE MADE US SMILE AND THEY ARE VERY CLEAN ANIMALS!I remembered that from a report I did on PIGS in the 3rd grade!
  I may NEED to get another one!

Elizabeth, thankful you are still here and can move on! These setbacks are so devastating and always happen when it is already raining on our parade.. just more clouds! Truly! The sun will always shine again and your beautiful garden is just opening up… solace and peace and promise.. I always go back there, to Nature, when things happen to me..
Just being in the beauty and quiet is a panacea, and then some.. I try to be outdoors as much as I can! Sending love and hugs.. N

  Once again I fall through the cracks of a well known medical institution in Northern California.I am just a number to them.
  The Blog has the record of the cracks and the responses I have had over the last decade.THE ITALIAN had a good idea!To make an appointment monthly with him!
  I’m on THAT!Of course it takes two months to get an appointment and I can not sit here and book July and August because they aren’t released yet!!!
