VESTIBULAR THERAPIST

October 7, 2023 89 Comments

My physical therapist sent me to see a VESTIBULAR THERAPIST right down the hall from him.I have had TWO VISITS as of today.

Both were ENJOYABLE and over 30 minutes!

The GIRLS he sent me to were in their 30’s is my guess they listened to me and had heard everything before that I had to say.

REMARKABLE in todays world!

MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT is I CANNOT SWING MY HEAD FROM LEFT TO RIGHT PUSHING A GROCERY CART and I now dislike SHOPPING in CLOTHING STORES!

ESPECIALLY…….. T.J.MAXX.

I FEEL LIGHT HEADED AND NOT WELL and have to leave before I want to.

This has been going on for YEARS!

I can recall telling the HEART DOCTOR the same thing 13 years ago.

BEFORE THE HEART VALVE SURGERY in 2010.

Of course, I have blamed all on my HEART over the years!

MY side yard since I have NO VISUALS from the THERAPY SESSION!

This BOY has been VERY SICK but seems to have RECOVERED for the moment!

We were at the VET three times in ONE WEEK.

But let’s get back to ME!

AFTER ALL THIS BLOG IS ABOUT ME AND MY LIFE!

It is something I can do from HOME at my own PACE.

It gives me a CREATIVE OUTLET and LETS ME INTERACT WITH OTHERS.

Before we get back to me and my HEALTH; I am happy to say its been over two weeks and he has adjusted very well.Today he came to the doggy door outside and GRUNTED!I turned and opened the plastic flap and encouraged him to come in with NO FOOD!

Voice only!

Of course BETTY was there too standing in the way saying COME ON BUGSZY, COME ON!

I let the flap go back down on his head.It took a few moments but he came BUSTING THROUGH!

THE JOY THAT BROUGHT ME WAS INCREDIBLE.

YOU see we have had the doors open the last two weeks as the weather had been perfect.

Today it’s so HOT I had to close all the doors by 9:30 AM.

That way it keeps the house cooler……….and you know who I’m MOST CONCERNED ABOUT!

“THANKS MOM WE LIKE A COOL HOUSE WITH OUR COATS ON!”

OKAY SO

What does VESTIBULAR MEAN?

Overview.

“Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is physical therapy that helps to reduce or eliminate balance issues. Studies show people with balance issues who have VRT have improved balance, less dizziness and reduce their risk of falling.”

MY BALANCE IS FINE.I am not the BALLERINA I once was and have noticed over the years especially when I was doing PILATES REFORMER my balance was not as good.

That ANNOYED ME.

What triggers vestibular balance disorders?

Common causes of vestibular balance disorders include:

  • Medicines.
  • Infections.
  • Inner ear problems, such as poor circulation in the ear.
  • Calcium debris in your semicircular canals.
  • Problems rooted in your brain, such as traumatic brain injury.

So,YES I HAVE A FEW OF THOSE “CAUSES” mentioned above.

HOW CAN IT BE FIXED?

“For people with inner ear dizziness, their dizziness may get better even without treatment. For some people, their dizziness does not get better unless they are given exercises for their dizziness and balance problems. Staying active is very important and moving your head, even if it makes you dizzy, is one of the best ways to recover from your inner ear problem. Medicine is not usually needed; however, if your dizziness is very bad, your physical therapist may work with your doctor to try to make your symptoms better with medicine so you can continue doing the exercises. On the basis of your diagnosis, your best treatment may include eye and head exercises, walking exercises, balance exercises, and education about your dizziness problem. Exercises are progressed as you improve so that you are less dizzy when you sit still and also when you move around.”

BOTTOM LINE THEY GIVE YOU EXERCISES TO DO AT HOME THAT MAKE YOU FEEL SICK!

MY FIRST VISIT I WAS GIVEN SEVEN EXERCISES.

I COULD BARELY GET THROUGH TWO.

I WAS TO DO THESE EXERCISES THREE TIMES A DAY.

I had THREE weeks to get the job done!

I FAILED.

I never got past ONCE a day!

Could this be overlapping with say The FOCAL SEIZURES………..thats a YES!

IN 8 years of trying to figure out what was wrong NOT 1 DOCTOR medical or SPECIALIST nor HOMEOPATH EVER MENTIONED VESTIBULAR!I think ONE of YOU READERS mention the VESTIBULAR MIGRAINES way BACK……………

BASILICO from OUR GARDEN grown from SEED by THAT ITALIAN!

A COAT I FOUND AT A NEW THRIFT STORE IN TOWN!

MY INSTINCT WAS ON HIGH ALERT THAT DAY AND MY CURIOSITY GOT THE BEST OF ME!

I FOUGHT OFF THE TIREDNESS AND THE FACT I HAD GROCERIES IN THE CAR TO INVESTIGATE!

MY VESTIBULAR PROBLEMS WERE “ON” AND I DIDNOT FEEL MY BEST…………

I DID A FAST SWEEP AND SPOTTED THIS COAT.

IT WAS A NO THINK ABOUT IT!

I’LL TAKE IT COAT!

HAND PAINTED ON LINEN FALL COAT THAT WAS SOLD TO ME FOR $60.00.

THE LENGTH WAS WHAT SOLD IT TO ME!

I NEVER FINE COATS THAT DRAG ON THE FLOOR!

HERE YOU CAN VIEW THE BACK!

WALKING ART WORK.

So, back to VESTIBULAR.I was given LESS exercises to do these next few weeks and to do TWICE a DAY.I will have to clear the calendar of any commitments which I have very few anyway and do the grocery shopping at night with THE ITALIAN!

I am committed 100% as I have NOTHING to LOSE.

If these exercises can help me feel the slightest bit better in my day to day LIFE I will be so HAPPY!

AND I KNOW THIS BOY WILL BE THRILLED TO HAVE ME HOME!

SO on top of the other issues lungs, brain and heart with a DASH of OSTEOPOROSIS,SLEEP APNEA and hair LOSS I can NOW ADD VESTIBULAR ISSUES.If you know anything about this ailment I would be THRILLED TO HEAR from you in the comments below. If you have had it and done the exercises I would be HAPPY TO hear from YOU!Heck if you know NOTHING about it I would be HAPPY to HEAR from YOU!

The SLEEP APNEA MACHINE is working fine for me.I am sleeping anywhere between 7.5 hours a night to 10.0 hours.ALL depends on if I NAP OR NOT!

BOTTOM LINE I AM SLEEPING MY LIFE AWAY!

THE GOOD NEWS IS I WILL BE IN THE NEXT ADVANCED STYLE BOOK CALLED ADVANCED PETS by Ari Seth Cohen.

IF YOU DRESS WITH STYLE and OWN A PET you can submit to me via EMAIL a photo of yourself and your pet to be considered for the book!ARI would contact YOU if you peek his interest. As he would have to PHOTOGRAPH YOU!

I am his SCOUT as HE calls ME which of course I LOVE!

I HOPE TO BE AT A FEW BOOK SIGNINGS NEXT YEAR AND MAYBE WE CAN MEET UP!

MY BEST TO ALL OF YOU!

HEALTH IS EVERYTHING TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF.

Have you ever known some one with so many AILMENTS as I HAVE?

I would LOVE to know if this is COMMON or VERY RARE.

I still have MY WITTS about me and am able to laugh, but one day I think it WILL ALL BECOME TOO MUCH and I will become RADIO SILENT.

I’m giving you A HEADS UP!

    Hi Elisabeth!
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s almost two years ago. Balance issues were part of the criteria for being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, along with hand tremors and other things. Needless to say, I continue to have difficulty with this. I was recently referred to a physical therapist who works with Parkinson’s patients and others who have balance issues. During my third session with my PT, I told him my ears have been very plugged up the last six plus months because of respiratory illness and a lot of airplane travel. Together, we wondered if I might benefit from an evaluation with a Vestibular Therapist. That happens tomorrow. The assumption is that my most recent problems with balance and some troubling “vertigo” symptoms may be related to the vestibular systems in my ears.
I look forward to meeting with her and hopefully getting closer to understanding why I’m struggling SO MUCH with this issue, beyond just balance and Parkinson’s. My PT also wants me to consider meeting with an ENT, on referral from my internist.

Alas, I’m 68….getting older is NOT for the faint of heart!!

I have suffered with dizziness for over a year. I went for vestibular therapy and she diagnosed me with vestibular migraines. I now see a neurologist that specializes in it. They are hard to find. I recommend a book by Dr Shin Beh on vestibular migraines. Also the Dizzycook.com. , the Vertigodictor.com, the rooted behavioral education. These have all helped me the past year. Good luck in your path.

ON a piece of paper put a LETTER.
A CAPITOL C for me!TAPE it to a wall.Sit arms distance away from it.
NOW, like a BOBBLE HEAD IN A CAR swing your head from right to left.
NEVER TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE LETTER C.
      CAN YOU GO FASTER?
THE IMPORTANT THING ISNOT TO LOOSE SIGHT OF THE LETTER ON THE WALL.
      DO THAT FOR 20 seconds.
      I count 1,2……..up to 20.
      REST a MOMENT.
DO IT AGAIN Two MORE TIMES.

      SECOND EXERCISE:
DO THE SAME THING UPWARDS AND DOWNWARDS.
NEVER TAKING EYES OFF THE LETTER!
      20 SECONDS.
      DO THREE TIMES.

DOES THAT GIVE YOU A HEADACHE OR MAKE YOU SICK?
IF THE ANSWER IS YES STOP.
GO BACK TO IT LATER IN THE DAY.

      THIRD EXERCISE:
DO you have a long hallway? You need about 30 feet.Walk turning your head left to right in a straight line. Can you do that without loosing your BALANCE?
I do this one outside as I have no hallway long enough nor void of THINGS.THAT would complicate it having visuals on the wall.

DO every day once a day. When you can work up to twice a day.
I saw IMPROVEMENT by the 3rd day.
      REPORT BACK TO ME!
      XOXO

I would hate the day you go silent Elizabeth. But I know it can be tough sometimes. I hope Theodore is doing much better. I don’t have any pets. They are sweet and loving but too much work. I barely have enough time to get though my chores as it is.
It’s still very hot here. It seems even warmer than usual for October and I;m not in the best mood. Unlike most people, the sun annoys the neck out of me and gives me migraines. Bring on the rainy days 🙂

    Hello Elizabeth,
First order of business- THAT COAT!!!! It is amazing and looks absolutely stunning on you. Several years ago I experienced a severe episode of vertigo. The Epley maneuver saved me , but I still experience flashes of dizziness several times a day. I went to several ENT’s & each one came up with a different diagnosis (Menieres, jaw issues, sinus inflammation, etc.) I did go to physical therapy and tried to do the eye exercises as best I could. I found that the lighting in some rooms of my home made me dizzy/lightheaded. It was almost a year before I could go back on the computer without getting dizzy – but some blogs for whatever reason bring on the flash of dizzy-(not yours!) Certain stores & restaurants also make me dizzy. I sleep sitting up (3 years now!) & once a week I try lying flat, but still can’t do it. I have to sit up at the dentist & have been putting off cataract surgery because they need me to lie flat – which I can’t do. Meclazine doesn’t work for me- but a homeopathic remedy Cocculus Indicus 30C has been very helpful. I take it several times a day (5 tiny tabs under the tongue). I hate that I have no control over this and that doctors seem to shrug it off because it is not life threatening- even though it severely diminishes my quality of life.

Your adventures in vestibular disturbances very much caught my eye. I’ve had vestibular issues in varying degrees since I was an adolescent. I was on a high diving team from the time I was seven years old and apparently all of that diving deep into the pool created pressure on my young eardrums, which translated later on in life as balance issues, including some vertigo. I’ve tried to do those exercises, I am pretty sure they’re the same ones you were given, lay down the edge of the bed with your head below your shoulders and swing your head back-and-forth, and it was like entering the gates of hell, and I could not do it.
So, reading your experiences is, believe it, or not, helpful. I know you will come out on top; your resilience is inspirational. I may even try my exercises again.
We are so many of us collectors, and by this age, we even collect a few ailments… Too bad those are the hardest things to get rid of.
All of my wishes end hopes that you continue on feeling better and stronger. I enjoy your blog much more than I ever thought I would. Fondly, Marci.

      NO!
What you are describing is for the EPLEY MANEUVER!
      THAT IS FOR VERTIGO!
I DONOT HAVE THAT.BUT I FALL IN THE SAME FIELD AS THAT.
“The Epley maneuver is now the standard of care for BPPV. However, when John Epley first introduced it, many didn’t take him seriously. Thankfully, he persevered in advocating on behalf of vestibular patients. Dr. Epley passed away on July 30th, 2019. We honor his compassion and contributions to the vestibular community.
From Dr. Epley’s obituary: “When insurance companies and worker’s compensation claimed patients were crazy or malingering, not dizzy, he proved them wrong.”
ONLY IN The last 8 years have they found out about VESTIBULAR!
THERE IS A VIDEO IF YOU GOOGLE FOR THE EPLEY MANEUVER.
I can try and make short videos on my phone and send to you of the exercises I am doing now for VESTIBULAR.
WOULD THAT HELP DO YOU THINK?
I am dizzy/light headed EVERYDAY OF MY LIFE!IF I MOVE the wrong way I am WORTHLESS for the rest of the day!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS………

I had some dizziness happen at yoga a few years back. The doctor said it was ‘normal’ occurrence and gave me some awful exercise to do as well. Also made me dizzier. The spells passed and I haven’t experienced it since. I’m not sure if it was vestibular but it sounds like it.
Keep up the exercise and hopefully it will go away!

One of my favorite things about you is that even when you’re down and don’t have hope of finding a solution to your health problems, you continue to persevere until you find something that helps you. You are the definition of a survivor, Elizabeth, and a great lesson for us all. Too many people give up, or they blindly take the word of a doctor they don’t know, but you continue to question until you find an answer. I’m thrilled the vestibular people are also good listeners and are working with you to solve this problem. You’re amazing! xoxox, Brenda

    Elizabeth,
It must be very draining on you to deal with all of these issues. I had never heard of a few of your conditions until you explained them.
I remember watching a few Physical Therapists working with people on these balance and dizziness issues when I was there for a shoulder issue. It seems like many people had similar issues and they wore a type of harness that was hooked up to these ropes with springs that hung from the ceiling in case they fell, it would prevent them from hitting the ground. They had them doing many exercises where they moved their eyes around a lot, using these charts that hung on the wall that they looked at, left, right up and down. Many things I had never seen before. I don’t know if it helped them but it seemed like they kept coming so it probably did but took time.
I hope you can get relief soon, it’s a lot for one person to take!
I too have sleep apnea and use a bipap machine. I count myself lucky to get 5 hours of sleep per night, that’s with several interruptions for bathroom breaks. No nighttime glamour here?. But without it I’d be lucky to get 2 hrs sleep so it is improved.
The hair loss, me too ????! This one is pure vanity but so hard to take. I used to have such thick hair now I have a thin crown, especially from the back. I see all these women older than me with full, thick heads of hair, I don’t understand it. Most doctors don’t take this issue very seriously so it’s hard to find definite answers.
It seems like your animals help tremendously to bring you joy amongst the suffering. Your new pig is adorable. Of course your beautiful garden and the Italian are there to cheer you!! His basil is showstopping by the way.
I wish I had a tip that would help but sadly I don’t. I’m sending you all my positive thoughts and warmest wishes for better days ahead. May strength, healing, and happiness find their way to you soon.

Well we’ll, doesn’t Bankszy look as happy as a pig in po! Love your floor length coat! Divine & being tall is good! I love your down gilet, I need one & brand name cause it’s hot here a lot & that’s just enough for here. I can wear a sweater if needed. Love the color. I’ll look for it if you think I can find it. I think everybody gets vertigo & after all my falls down stairs helping people lug out attics, it took its toll. Getting strength in your legs and upper body sounds like a good stabilizer. I adore Theodore as I so want a orange kitty. So hard to find. I used to babysit one named Romeo, he was a real lover boy & the easiest never tearing up a thing!!

      The color spoke to me!
What I have is not VERTIGO.Its different hard to explain but not as HORRIFYING AS VERTIGO!HAD it twice in my LIFE and I could NEVER LIVE with that! The EPLEY maneuver worked for me which was difficult to do at the time but after a few minutes you felt the dizziness slip away.
YOU can find on YOU TUBE a VIDEO!
YOU are RIGHT ORANGE KITTY’s are hard to find but they are THE BEST as far as PERSONALITIES!I have had cats all my LIFE.I’m on my THIRD ORANGE CAT!ROMEO………..what a great name!

My dear friend, at least you seem to be when I read your blog. I have , in fact, had VRT for many years and have seen all kinds of doctors to find out what was really going on with me. I do exercises just about every day so that it might calm it down for a while. I have severe dizziness and very bad balance at times. For about seven years I have fought this,, but until just a few weeks ago my heart doctor took me off of my bladder medication and that has helped me tremendously. I had no dizziness for about three weeks and was feeling so much better, able to go and do things I had to have help with for so long. But this morning, I woke up dizzy . I did my exercises and also took a Me

      OH JUDY!
YOU AND ME HAVE BEEN ON THE SAME TIMETABLE!I have been dealing with this for 8 years more if you count when I was NOT KEEPING TRACK OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING!NOW that is VERY interesting the bladder medication.I woke up for YEARS REALLY dizzy from SOTOL medication.I was on that for the heart NOT BLOOD PRESSURE as all medical people assumed. For me it was used as a Blood thinner going through the valve.
I asked to be taken off of it after being on it for 20 years! The dizziness went away upon awakening!I-am not on bladder meds probably should be but not yet.My dizziness comes from doing HOUSEWORK!Bending, head movements, getting excited……..just talking can give me a dizzy feeling and I’m seated!Happened to me yesterday at a baby shower.I am ALWAYS the first to sit down as I cannot stand very long feel faint.I asked another woman to sit as LOOKING UP at her made me dizzy I of course said nothing!Just chatting back and fourth made me light headed.I was ENJOYING the CHAT SO MUCH but I thought I must stop or I will pass out!AGAIN this is NO WAY TO LIVE and does not seem FAIR to me!

    Good Afternoon, Contessa!

What a treat to find you in my inbox today. I was hoping you would post a picture or two of that fabulous coat, in which you look amazing. So good to hear that piggy is learning to use the doggie door. I think he is grateful to have a home and people and other animals who love him. Theodore’s photos always crack me up; it’s as if he is speaking to us, like Morris on the old commercials. So glad he dodged a bullet. Nine lives, as they say. I have a suggestion for a future post: the Italian as guest writer, complete with photos and gardening tips and tricks. I have never seen Basil looking so healthy and beautiful. Spill all details on the soil amendments, please. I want to know how he starts the seeds as well. As to your health, whew. You have been through so much, yet you persevere. That, in itself, deserves admiration. In my case, there is no option. I have had several issues at once over the past nearly three years, as you know. We must go on. I have said it before, but keep trudging forth. Keep finding joy in each day. Spend time with your pets. Hold hands with the Italian while you watch TV ( I assume you still have the “old people’s furniture?”) And keep up your informative and entertaining blog, which so many of us enjoy. You are a treasure and I believe that someone out there is going to help you get to the bottom of this. Sending much love and bright thoughts.

I have had “vestibulopathy” for 5+ years. I live in the south of France, and I got it diagnosed pretty quickly. I also had a mild case of verigo once, it is something completely different from vestibular disease. I went to a doctor who specializes in diseases of that sort, and he diagnosed me right away. I went to a therapist and had exercises which helped a lot. My problem was getting dizzy if I moved too quickly and falling. I’m pretty much okay now, and I do exercises every day that I found on the internet, as the others were giving me a sore neck. They involve standing on one foot, things like that. I am 79 but have no other serious problems except hearing loss. If you don’t like your current exercises, look on the internet for others that might work better for you. Its treatable, could be worse!

Yes, I hear you about the neck issues as I tried PT years ago when this all started and because the neck hurt they told me TO STOP!SO, the ball was dropped basically and I never went back. But because MY ATLAS still moves around I had the idea to go back to see what exercises they would give me.I had FORGOTTEN I WENT TO THEM FROM THE START before I knew my ATLAS MOVED!I already am seeing IMPROVEMENT in just a few days with the exercises so I will continue BUT SO GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT OTHER OPTION!

Wow that basil is huge!!!! What a green thumb your Italian has…I had two or three episodes with dizziness one that lasted a week and I needed a trim badly so I literally crawled on the sidewalk to get to my hairdresser appointment! I had the Esply method to do daily several time to readjust some crystals in my ears? I hadn’t heard of this but apparently it’s a great technique. I was so nauseated it was tough. I stayed in bed most of the time and when I did get up I had to hold onto furniture and walls.

    Elizabeth,
I am so happy I read your post today. I didn’t realize vestibular therapy was a thing and I am pretty miffed about that. I had valve replacement surgery several years ago. During the surgery, some debris escaped and I had a tiny stroke to my right eye. So now I have VERY limited vision out of that eye. Just some blurry light around the edges. But I am so lucky, because I can still see fine with one eye and what is left of the right eye. I can drive etc. But, the stroke effected my inner ear on that side as well. It doesn’t happen often, but enough that is is daunting. It is almost always when I am walking or standing, looking up and down or side to side. When you mentioned shopping, that was very familiar to me. I have had it happen in stores before. Also at home if I am cooking and looking up and down at recipes. I get really dizzy. Sometimes it is minor. But then there are times that I have to find a chair or wall because it is so profound. I think the therapy sounds like it might help me. I am wondering why my ENT specialist didn’t mention it. I wish you great success with your efforts. Take care.

2 years ago I developed Vestibular Migraines (severe vertigo and balance issues). With osteoporosis and a history of bone fracture, this was almost more than I could deal with (and on top of a list of other medical problems longer than even yours). It took a long frustrating time before I saw a specialist who diagnosed me correctly.
I was put on the Johns Hopkins Elimination Diet to determine dietary triggers plus magnesium and other vitamins to cool down a “hot brain”. I am now able to go more than 3 weeks without episodes, a tremendous improvement from nearly daily occurences. And I feel that I am getting back to enjoying my nearly 80 yo life.
I was not referred for vestibular therapy because I was too acute. That would have been an option for later one.
    There is hope, Contessa.

I really sympathise with your vestibular problems. I am 73 years old and spent a night in hospital about a month ago when I had a violently dizzy spell in the night. The doctors didn’t have a clue so I tracked down a vestibular physiotherapist who came to my home and gave me the Epley Manoevre. Horrid to experience with the room spinning around but only lasts minutes and I can honestly say I have been so much better since. She managed to get the calcium crystals back into the right part of the ear (apparently). She also gave me one or two exercises but I really feel the solution is finding someone who can manipulate your head and neck accurately. Hope this helps. Greetings from London…. Xxx

    Hi there CONTESSA
I had not heard of vestibular until you mentioned it. Oh my. When I goggled vestibular disease I got so many links relating it to dogs and cats! Perhaps you need to see a vet! Just kidding! Mind you Theodore has recovered so well with the 3 vet visits and you have been having a continuation of ongoing and new problems over the years and not really advancing positively dealing with GPs and specialists. So hard to believe that someone has not clued in far sooner re your symptoms and helped to alleviate them.

if u use q-tips to clean your ears it may be part of the problem. it moves the tiny hairs around inside, contributing to dizziness. as my dr said, dont put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears ?

      I have had VERTIGO TWICE!
      HORRIBLE!
THE EPLEY MANEUVER WorKED FOR ME………..hang off the side of the bed and come up slowly side ways which will shake those ears crystals back into place!
I have used Q-TIPS for years all my LIFE as when I wake up there is moisture in my ears! Then they itch like crazy!
NO EAR DOCTOR HAS BEEN ABLE TO EXPLAIN THAT!
NOW I heard a story yesterday about fluid in the ear as the skull had holes in it!The fluid was brain fluid!Which the DOCTOR FOR 8 YEARS just DRAINED!The California doc said this is not ear fluid and had it sent to the lab!BRAIN SURGERY LATER a steel plate was put inside next to the thinning skull! This man was 34 years old!Had been dealing with hearing loss etc for 8 years!

Hi! As you can see, I had a ball with Ari! It was so much fun! My dog had vestibular, old dog vestibular syndrome too! If it happens again, I’ll try Dramamine I never heard of that! You look fabulous, and I love the new pig. I am having a book signing for Ari when his book comes out so you’ll have to come stay in your house!

    Hi Elizabeth,
I am so sorry to hear about all your health issues. My mother had similiar issues. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. All valid but very debilitating. She lived to 92 however and may have lived longer had my Dad not died a month before she did. She just couldn’t go on without him. Losing both my parents within 2 months of each other was devastating to me as an only child. But I know now they are dancing to the light fantastic! Since I have little faith in doctors and especially any kind of pharmaceuticals, I just ignore my issues. Yes, at 82 I get dizzy sometimes, have chronic lymphoma leukemia, and am often tired but still work 8 hours a day 5 days a week which includes lots of driving. I play mind tricks like just focusing on what’s right instead of whats wrong. It works for me. I will say that any kind of physical therapy and physical exercise you can do is the best thing you could do.
But that is just me. Love your new piggie, and that coat!!! Breathtaking! Wishing you lots of less tired days.

      HATS OFF TO YOU LYNDA!
I did the MIND TRICKS for YEARS.Turning the music up while driving or calling someone so I had someone to talk too if I was feeling bad………..
That has run its full course with me.I do very little driving and I have to be able to pull off the road at a moments notice.Because I am given NO WARNING SIGNS.
      Its been a difficult decade!
      THANK YOU.

Hi Elizabeth, poking around and saw your new post, always a delight! So much to comment on. I really understand what it’s like to have multiple health issues that can overlap and how treating one doesn’t always work, it can be so incredibly overwhelming and discouraging too! I first learned about vestibular disease when our dog Kate many years ago suddenly fell off her chair when she was about 11 or 12. After false info at the emergency vet on the weekend (brain tumor), we learned from our own vet that it was “Old Dog Vestibular Disease”. and quite common. Not much was offered in the way of treatment, as dogs do adapt. Then, a client of ours commented that she also had vestibular disease and was directed to use non-drowsy dramamine to successfully treat it. The vet ok’d it for our dog and ta-da, she did well. Not sure if this will help you at all, but wanted to mention it.
Wow to the Italian’s giant basil! Looks like another species all together. Such good news that Theodore is doing well at present and that Bugszy is being a doggie door champ with Betty’s help!
That’s quite a striking coat, must have belonged to someone super tall!
    Take care!

I have heard that BEFORE about the DRAMAMINE!
I do not suffer from DIZZY SPELLS or a ROOM MOVING.
Just head and vision problems that do not allow me to MOVE!!!
I will stick with the exercises for now because I have been told it is FIXABLE.I will take the DRAMAMINE as back up.AGAIN I would never be able to get to it during an episode I would have to carry it on my body.
I guess I can tape it to my PHONE!
As I usually carry the phone with me anywhere I go in case I need to call 911.LIfe and its PLEASURES.
      I hate that.
I use to unlock the front door in case the PARAMEDICS had to come as I would wake up feeling SO BAD!
      NO way to LIVE.
Just giving you an idea what has been going on over here for way too many years.

    Well, Good Morning!
Your ability to persevere through all of these medical challenges certainly has me in awe of you regularly. I’m at a loss with any knowledge of VRT and its outcomes. That is of little help to you. Just know that I am always sending you lots of good healing vibes!
That linen dress coat is stunning! I think I told you that the very first day you posted a photo of you wearing it. That’s a one of a kind treasure!
Alas, I do not think I’m old enough to be included in Ari’s next edition. It is something I would truly love to be included in with Leo. Leo is going to be 13 this year and it would make my day to have such an incredible experience like this with him! What a treasure Ari is to so many of us! Just love him!
Let’s plan on a chat this coming week.
    Much love to you,
    Diana
