HAVE you ever heard about making a lip scrub of sugar and honey?

My lips were so dry from our cold weather.

I googled lip scrubs.

So easy to do and so WORTHWHILE!

My lips have Never been so soft!

APPLY TWICE A DAY FOR A MINUTE AND RUB……..THEN RINSE!

I MADE A SMALL BOWL AND LEFT IT IN THE BATHROOM.

NO MORE DRY LIPS!

THOUGHT I SHOULD SHARE WITH YOU BEFORE I FORGET!

BEFORE I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE LATEST HEALTH FAILURE.

(AND I NOW HAVE THREE DIAGNOSIS IN THREE YEARS!)

LUNGS, BRAIN AND HEART………

1. NON-TUBERCULOIUS BACTERIUM = LUNGS

2. FOCAL SEIZURES = A FORM OF EPILEPSY

3.HEART FAILURE = DUE TO A WEAK HEART AND A LEFT BUNDLE BRANCH

THE ITALIAN I AM MARRIED TOO WANTED TO GIVE ME A BIRTHDAY PARTY IN THE GARDEN!

I TOLD HIM I DONOT THINK I HAVE THE ENERGY FOR THAT!

I KNOW I DON’T!

HE SAID, HE WOULD HAVE RUDY DO THE CATERING.

SO, NO FOOD PREP AND NO COOKING BY US!

MY EYES PERKED UP!

STILL THERE IS A LOT TO DO AS WE ALWAYS DO A SIT DOWN DINNER IN THE GARDEN.

I AM STILL NOT SURE ABOUT IT AS I AM SO TIRED BY LATE AFTERNOON!

BUT THAT GOT ME THINKING ABOUT THE GARDEN AND HOW IT NEEDS A BIT OF TLC………

How DOES ONE take care of a wallflower plant?

Plant wallflowers in alkaline soil (pH 7.0-9.0) that’s well-draining. They need mostly dry soil to keep their roots dry, so they stay healthy. IT’S NOT AS IF ITS A REAL PERSON………

A LOT OF THESE GIRLS ARE HAVING THEIR PERIODS BY THAT AGE!

THEY BETTER HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT’S TO COME!

( NO PUN INTENDED!)

NEVER MIND ITS THE MASSIVE SIZE OF THE DAVID STATUE AND HIS HANDS AND THE VEINS IN HIS LEGS THAT TAKE YOUR VISION!

WHAT ABOUT THOSE EYES?

THIS HAPPENED TO US IN MY SONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!ONE MOTHER COMPLAINED ABOUT A CHRISTMAS THEMED CONCERT WITH PUPPETS MADE OF WHITE TUBE SOCKS THAT THE 5TH GRADERS DECORATED WITH TINSEL AND LIGHTS ETC.THE MUSIC TEACHER PLAYED THE PIANO AND THE “SOCKS” SANG ALONG!IT WAS A VERY FESTIVE OCCASION AND THE KIDS LOOKED FORWARD TO IT!

POOF GONE!

FROM ONE COMPLAINT.

THIS WOMAN DIDNOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS.

IN MY OPINION,DONOT HAVE YOUR CHILD PARTICIPATE!

OR EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND HAVE THE CHILD LEARN FROM A DIFFERENT RELIGION.

SO IT WAS SHUT DOWN AFTER YEARS OF MAGICAL, CREATIVITY and RIGHT OF PASSAGE FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO MIDDLE SCHOOL.

BOTTOM LINE THE JOY WAS SNATCHED!

NEVER MIND WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE MALE FIGURE HERE IN AMERICA FOR WHAT 15 YEARS?

MAYBE LONGER!

IN THE STYLE OF THE DROOPY PANT WITH THE BUTTOCKS CRACK SHOWING!

THAT WASN’T BANNED!

MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE JUST LOOKING AT THEM WITH THE PANTS TO THEIR KNEES!

GRABBING THEIR CROTCH TO HOLD THE PANTS UP!

THE ENERGY ALONE TO WALK LIKE THAT AND THE UNCOMFORTABLE STANCE WOULD MAKE THAT PERSON GRUMPY IN NO TIME!

EVEN ANGRY!

SO THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME SEEING THE DAVID STATUE in FLORENCE,ITALY AND WHAT I REMEMBER MOST WAS THE LINE TO GET IN AND THE LINE THAT MOVED SO SLOW AROUND HIM!

NO ONE WANTED TO LEAVE!

HE WAS MAGNIFICENT AS YOU ROUNDED THE CORNER AND THERE HE WAS TO THE RIGHT!

HE TOOK MY BREATH AWAY AND NOT BECAUSE I COULD SEE HIM NAKED BUT FOR HIS OVERALL BRILLIANCE!

NO POWER TOOL WAS INVOLVED MAKING THIS FINE CREATURE!

FACT!

MOST LIKELY A CHISEL AND A HAMMER.

BY THE WAY IT TOOK THREE YEARS OF DAILY CHISELING TO MAKE HIM!

FACT!

NO MUSIC BLARING OUT OF A SPEAKER TO KEEP HIM COMPANY EITHER………

LONG HOURS AND DUST.

I think I have mentioned before how when I lived IN ITALY in the early 1990’s the AMERICAN MEN would be in shorts and white knee socks in sandals!

I would be so EMBARRASSED!

THEY WILL BE PUTTING ME ON MORE PILLS AND INCREASING THE DOASGE AS WE GO!

REASON.

TO GIVE THE HEART MORE STRENGTH SO I CAN SQUEEZE A LITTLE BIT MORE JOY IN THERE!

SO,WE CAN GET THE EJECTION FRACTION TO GO BACK UP AND THAT IS MY NUMBER ONE GOAL!

YESTERDAY WAS THE DAY IT ALL CAME CRASHING DOWN FOR ME!

I AM NOW OFFICIALLY OLD AND WILL BE MONITORING MY BLOOD PRESSURE DAILY AND PULSE AND WEIGHT!

NO MORE SALT FOR ME!

I SUPPOSE THE GLUTEN INTOLERANCE WAS THE TRAINING I NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO TACKLE THIS BIG PUNCH!

SALT IS IN EVERYTHING IF YOU DONOT READ LABELS.

I DO MEAN EVERYTHING!

I KNOW I TOLD YOU NEXT UP WOULD BE THE GARDEN!

Apologies for being late on this post. I do find it hard to believe readers unsuscribe when you discuss your health issues so openly. Life is not always perfect and most of us have our trials from time to time. That said i haven’t written a post since starting chemo due to lack of energy but have plans to do so soon. My wish for you is that the new meds will make your day to day easier.
Have the party just make sure you do not take over and do all the work involved.
As to the statue of David I was floored when i read this in our newspaper , really what is wrong with people, they were not s you say very young children. I fear that the tolerance of others with open views is going backwards.
Please take care of yourself and enjoy your garden , it should be a good year with all the rain.

  There is a REASON for the detailed medical reports that are personal and on another level helping others although you may-not benefit.My Followers Helped ME A-LOT through a long and DIFFICULT 7 years by suggesting this and that which kept me busy following up on and doing.Acupuncture,endrocronoglogy,homeopathic,Functional medicine,other opinions and Beyond! One readers Mother had the same symptoms as me for years as well!Its helpful to know you areNot the only one suffering and you areNot making this up!

    you are right reg. Insta and I am really considering to go back. I have noticed that actually no one is interested in what you post. Quickly like if it’s OK and then continue to bombard yourself with the next photos Reg. yr illness . I didn’t want to and don’t want to downplay it and I don’t want to have these symptoms myself, but I still believe (and also from experience) that it’s better not to deal with it too much/too often. with

Dearest Contessa – I am going to say something sticky. possibly controversial. Likely controversial. I will start by saying I enjoy your blog and wish you all the best. I plan to continue reading ad infinitum.
I wonder if there are other reasons that led readers to unsubscribe? Are there any other comments that might have caused that? You know I am warming up to suggesting one. I wonder if your comments, made a couple of times, about the fashion of baggy pants can be perceived as racist? I know you are commenting literally about the fashion but for some the trend represents their community, i.e., people they are closest to, and so the comments might be unsettling. And, for me, most of the people I have observed wearing this fashion are young black men. And so, in the spirit of learning and open discussion, I share this observation about what might be perceived.
I know you will take this in the spirit of open discussion as we all, including myself, are learning to be more aware. I don’t know where the line is where one crosses from social observations to unintended insults, but I am learning that the line is different than I had thought it was.

Congrats on another honest and refreshing blog! I suspect that the same people that want to censor the human body are afraid of facing the reality of their own inevitable failing health. For me, Michelangelo’s David was breath-takingly beautiful! I don’t know Elizabeth. For someone who is so sick you certainly have a lot going on in your life and your head. I adore those lights. Must get some for my garden, I agree about men with their Bu** hanging out. Honestly.
II remember seeing the David. I came to the Academy at 4:30 it closed at 5 and there was no one in line. Breathtaking. I remember the story of how Michelangelo looked at the marble and saw the David in there. All he had to do was carve him out of the marble. I remember seeing the quarry where he picked the marble.Dinner in the garden for your birthday? Perfect. As long as someone else does the cooking and cleaning. Time to think about yourself and take care of yourself. You look fabulous. Then again you always have looked fabulous. I love the photo of you with the roses and they match your pants. Only you. You are not old! You have a very young and creative attitude!!!!You go girl!!!!

You have been through so much and your attitude seems to stay up in spite of the chronic challenges you face. Keeping a UP and positive state of mind is sometimes easier said than done when you have so much coming at you. It sounds like “the Italian” takes excellent care of you. As you do to him.
It’s always nice to see pictures of you as you are today and years past. Great memories.
The lights that you added in the garden are so much fun, they add an element of surprise.

Oh my re your current diagnosis – but the dr will be on top of it.
Hard to believe one person can put in a complaint and things CHANGE! Glad Italy is responding. I’ve been working the musical Pretty Woman – no protests – lady even brought her 2 kids! elementary age to the perf. Burlesque show next door – no protests. I thought I’d seen everything at the theatre but the other evening the singer was singing to a lady seated on a chair on the stage – well he had the microphone in one hand and moved his other hand around her body and then he had his head in her crotch and was singing away! No protest re that!
Your new lights brighten up the darkness as your blog posts brighten up people’s lives! LOVE IT!

So sorry you are having these health issues. Love your blog and your spirit. I just turned 80 in January and find myself slowing down and having blood pressure issues. I will continue to follow you and enjoy all your postings. Be welL( HEART EMOJI”S I WOULD IMAGAINE TURN INTO ???? HERE!!!)NO IDEA WHY!

Hello, LA CONTESSA, I’m so happy to hear your appointment went well! However, still many concerns for you and that is more than difficult. I think it’s important to share all aspects of your life, if you so choose! Health issues are important to talk about and not many do, so I say keep the discussion going. Also, we CARE about YOU. WE WANT to KNOW how you are feeling.
A few things in this post had me laughing out loud. This was the first: OVER SATURATION, BOREDOM AND UNPLEASANT TOPICS!
WHICH BRINGS ME TO FLORIDA! Hilarious!!

So, David? Is he going the way of WOKE culture, too?! Maybe they should hand out a leaf for the tourists to put over his privates when they enter. OMG, what is the world coming to? I did not hear about this and I will scream if they do anything to his perfect ‘stone’ fox body!
Love the pictures of you in your Escada jeans. I believe my mother had a pair at one time. Oh, and those solar lights are fabulous!!

I love your blog. I love you: your honesty, your charm, your infinite kindness. Thank you for sharing your health problems. We learn from each other. And I too do not understand this ‘wokeness’.
I do not understand for example why ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ is no longer allowed on the school curriculum here.
It is a minefield….

I am so sorry you have had all these health issues. I am certainly not turned off by them. I have actually not read about them until now since I have had a year of depression and have not read many blogs. I am so glad I read yours today; those lights brought a rare smile to my face and lightness to my spirit.

Because of you, I ordered those firecracker solar lights. They arrived today. I’m going to take them to show my daughter and Denver. I think we’re gonna probably use them outside for the wedding.!!! Love all the photos
