The Post on BOTTICELLI.

February 14, 2024 122 Comments

I DO BELIEVE THESE PHOTOS WILL SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES………….

HERE I AM AT THE LEGION OF HONOR IN San Francisco WITH MY DEAR FRIEND OF 4O YEARS LINDA!

BUT FIRST TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THESE ART DISPLAYS OF KITCHEN PARAPHERNALIA!!!

I LOVED THEM AND I AM NOT A FAN AT ALL OF MODERN ART!

MOLDS< FUNNELS< WHISKS< COLANDERS ……..THE LIST GOES ON!

A FABULOUS DISPLAY I THINK!

BEFORE A PAINTING TAKES PLACE BACK IN THE DAY A DRAWING WAS DONE.

THIS PAINTING WAS PAINTED IN THE 1400’S.

LOOK AT THE COLOR!

THEN LOOK AT THAT FRAME!

BUT DID YOU SEE THE INTENSITY OF THE COLORS?

AFTER 600 YEARS!

A DRAWING OF A HEAD AND A PHOTO OF A HEAD!

IN THE SAME CAPTURE!

AWARD WINNING CONTESSA!

PAT YOURSELF on THE BACK!

I am being funny in case you are NEW HERE!

WE WILL NOT GO INTO DETAIL HOW MY BASKET BAG MATCHES THE FRAME AND MY COAT IS DARK LIKE HER GOWN AND MY DRESS COLORS RESEMBLE THE COLORS IN THE PAINTING AND MY GLASSES COMPLIMENT HER HALO!

NOW WILL WE?

THESE ARE THE THINGS I NOTICE AFTER THE PHOTO IS TAKEN AND I AM POSTING TO SHARE WITH YOU!

IT ABSOLUTELY GIVES ME A THRILL!

Most paintings were painted on wood. Some had glass in front of them others NOT!

I was WATCHING for THOSE TWO WOMEN with the HOT SOUP!

Who TOSSED on THE Mona Lisa recently at the LOUVRE!

PEOPLE TODAY are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

THE Mona Lisa and GLOBAL WARMING had NOTHING to do with HER or her CREATOR!

DO WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE TWO WOMEN…………….?

UPDATE ME AS I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO KNOW!

WHAT CATCHES MY EYE HERE ARE THE DOTS OF LIGHT PAINT ON HIS HALO.HER RED ARM SLEEVE AND THAT BOOK!I HAVE A BOOK SIMILAR IN DARK LEATHER……….BETTER PULL THAT OUT AND LOOK FOR THE DATE INSIDE!ANOTHER THING TO POINT OUT TO THE SONS!

GUESS WHO DONATED THIS STATUE TO THE LEGION OF HONOR?

IN MY YOUTH HE ALWAYS PLAYED A VAMPIRE OR SCARY PERSON!

VINCENT PRICE!

THE COLORS IN THIS PAINTING WERE EVEN BETTER IN PERSON!

BY the way LOADS of men at this exhibit on a rainy DAY!

NICE TO SEE.

NORMALLY ITS MOSTLY WOMEN at these events.

DRESSED IN EXERCISE ATTIRE BUT LETS NOT GO THAT ROUTE TODAY!

NO BLOOD PRESSURE SPIKES OR NEGATIVE ATTITUDE HERE!

I HAD ENOUGH OF THAT THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY!

I READ A REPORT FROM A CT SCAN TAKEN THIS PAST SATURDAY of my upper body THAT I DID HAVE an ANEURYSM IN MY HEAD.I read it THREE times………..but instead of reading the commas I read it as a STATEMENT.It took a few hours before I got an email from my NEUROLOGIST.Saying the blood vessels are fine it’s the LUNGS that have gotten WORSE!

NO ANEURYSM!!!!!

REPEAT NO ANEURYSM!

MY FATHER DIED FROM ONE OF THOSE…………

I LOVE THESE GOWNS!

LOOK AT THE DETAIL IN THE BROWN GOWN AT THE CHEST.

MY MIND ALWAYS GO TO WHO HAD TO WASH THIS CLOTHING AND HOW ON EARTH DID THEY GET THE DIRT OUT OF THE HEM!

I GUESS A ROCK AND SOME SCRUBBING……………might have done the trick?

WHICH GOWN WOULD YOU PICK?

By the way the background color here is a light purple………lavender.

I”LL TAKE THIS ONE!

BY THE WAY HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Interesting HAIR STYLE?

ANYONE have a comment on that?

Or know ANYTHING about HAIR back in these days?

We have smooth, ripples and do I dare say BAGS?

NO! It is a pony tail tied up…………RIGHT?

I hope this posts VERTICAL and NOT HORIZONTAL.I had an issue last night and my computer wizard said to POST as FULL.I have NO idea what that means so if you can not see all of her HAIR its NOT MY FAULT!

(By the way to put a photo HERE for YOUR VIEWING it takes 4 steps.)

THE PAINTING BELOW IS WHAT THESE WORDS ARE DESCRIBING.

“PEACE ON EARTH,GOODWILL TOWARD MEN.”

WAS A THING EVEN IN 1501……………..

WE ARE STILL STRIVING TO LIVE UP TO THESE WORDS!

THIS IS BOTTICELLI’s ONLY PAINTING THAT IS SIGNED AND DATED ABOVE!

HE WAS BORN IN FLORENCE, ITALY AND DIED THERE IN POVERTY!

HERE WE HAVE A SEA OF HORSES and MEN.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE SHOW…………..

I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME GETTING OUT AND WALKING A BIT.EVEN THOUGH THE WEATHER WAS LESS THAN DESIRABLE!WHEN WE GOT BACK TO THE CAR WE HAD THIS GIFT ON THE WINDOW!

A BIRD HAD LOST HER EGG…………..ON LINDA’S CAR WINDOW!

WE BOTH SAT THERE DEVASTATED AS TO WHY…………..

HAVE A GOOD WEEK EVERYONE AND IF YOU HAVE THE TIME I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR AGE!

I WANT TO TAKE A SURVEY OF SORTS OF THE AGE GROUP THAT FOLLOWS ME!

I DO HAVE A GUT FEELING,BUT MAYBE THERE ARE SOME OF YOU WHO ARE YOUNG THINGS UNDER 50?

TO LEAVE ME A COMMENT OR AGE KEEP SCROLLING DOWNWARDS!

SEIZE THE DAY!

YOUR CONTESSA,

XXX

Elizabeth, museums are a huge part of what I enjoy and botanicals gardens or beautiful gardens in general – oh and libraries, used book stores and antique shops. So great to see you enjoying yourself in spite of your medicals concerns. It does the heart and mind good.
The colors in the paintings are very highly pigmented and I love it. That hairstyle is so interesting because of the way it is tied into sections, a lot of intricate details there, probably is what inspires the hairstyles in the couture shows. I am 61 and really enjoy your blog and all the photos you share. Thank you, Maggie

It makes me happy every time I see you’ve been out and about and enjoyed yourself and didn’t have an episode. Not crazy about the sound of the report about your lungs though… but what are you supposed to do? Enjoyed the Botticelli exhibit you shared with us so thank you! He died in Florence? Probably at the prehistoric hospital I was in. Michaelangelo was a patient there as well and I’m sure it hasn’t changed at all since then. Sending you lots of love, Brenda

    Hi Elizabeth,
I wanted to make a comment back to you about having The Italian take you out on a date down memory lane to Mil? Valley. My Honey Bear and I used to hang out at Sweet Water in Mil? Valley. It was great fun and they had an awesome group of musicians.
At the time I lived in Sausalito and my honey lived in Larkspur.
I later moved to Larkspur. That is when we got married.
Many years ago we toured memory lane with my forever friend of 50 years Tina Martin (she lives in SF). I also lived in Oakland, SF – the Marina, and Pacific Heights. We took a sabbatical and lived in Stinson Beach for 9 months. We lived across the street from Pablo Cruise. They were a well know rock and roll group back in the mid seventies.
Now that is going down memory lane. We ate at The Spinnaker in Sausalito that day for lunch. I shall never forget that day it’s etched in my heart forever. Stinson Beach is still the same funky laid back place.
What took you to Orinda? Orinda is beautiful, my sister used to live there.

Hello Contessa, A wonderful exhibit. Old-master drawings have a quality that absolutely fascinates. I remember an exhibit of Poussin drawings that I had to keep returning to over and over. I recall they were on loan to Cleveland from (the late) Queen Elizabeth’s/the Windsor’s personal collection.
    .
Some of those colors remain bright because mineral pigments were often used in those paintings. Of course, one also has to be aware of restoration and in-painting, especially if you are about to spend, say, $100,000,000 or so on them!
